Glad he won. Where we'd be if we'd beat Fiorentina or Villareal. Or Lampard didn't play in 2009.

Oh jeez I'm getting depressed now Man City in the League cup winning from the first leg up in the second leg.

2012 against the RS (who we finished above) and a poor Chelsea that somehow fluked two trophies was the one

Became the big boys have a monopoly on the top two trophies it’s essentially something a normal club not run by oligarchs can aspire to.

Exactly something like this is needed for regular fans to dream about.

Same way they need to adjust the League Cup to exclude all the teams playing in European competitions that season rather than seeing it scrapped.

Would give clubs like us, Brighton, Brentford, Wolves etc real chance to win something for success starved fans.

Thinking back we did finish 4th and qualify for the CL under Moyes of course but the biggest "Everton that" that could possibly be followed. The devils team in Stan Bull and that bent referee.

He had some good away wins for us in the Europa Cup for us definitely robbed of a Champions League group stage - this is a level lower - it's a trophy a mediocre one, but it counts - West Ham sacked him, & he has proved them wrong - we can't go back - he came close as did Gordon Lee who IMO had a far better team .... football wise -

It's sad to say we are atm just below West Hams standard in the Prem

It's hard being a manager now than it's ever been - he will have to rebuild West Ham or like any other manager it's an arduous job unless you have the money - Dyche will still have a hard job going forwards .....

And his 87 year old dad's there. Awesome.

West Ham's route to a European trophy: -

Viborg (Denmark) - they finished 3rd out of 12 teams in the Danish Superliga regular season and 4th in the Championship Play Offs - they played in the Danish first division in 2021

FCSB (Romania) formerly Steaua Bucuresti - they finished 3rd out of 16 teams in the Liga 1 regular season and 2nd in the Play offs

Silkeborg (Denmark) - they finished 7th out of 12 teams in the Danish Superliga regular season and 3rd in the Relegation Play Offs this season

Anderlecht (Belgium) - they finished 11th out of 18 teams in the Belgium Pro League

some big hitters there to just get past the group stages

knockouts they faced some even mightier opponents

Last 16 - AEK Larnaca (Cyprus) - some people call them the cypriot barcelona - they finished 2nd out of 14 teams in the Cypriot First Division regular season and 3rd in the Championship Play offs

Quarter Finals - Gent (Belgium) - some people call them the belgium real madrid - they finished 5th out of 18 teams in the Belgium Pro League

Semi Finals - AZ Alkmaar (Netherlands) - some people call them the Dutch Man City - they finished 4th out of 18 teams in the Eredivisie

Finals - Fiorentina (Italy) - they finished 8th out of 20 teams in Serie A

impressive stuff from the mighty irons
