2024/25 David Moyes

You're a lovely fella, talking about eating tampons and the like. Congratulations you are first on my ignore list. Bye!

Tick tock.

Big challenge for Moyes. The game has moved on and he was being found out at West Ham. The low block is a thing of the past, just doesn't work as effectively as it used to (and it used to drive me mad then for how often it would fail).

Fonseca uses a low block and lots of people wanted him.

We used a low block under dyche and had the 6th best defence in the league, forest uses it as well and has the 2nd best defence in the league.

So its not a thing of the past like. Its just when you dont have a working attack

At least it's all been done quickly and decisively this time.

We've been here before where a manager has stayed on to long, then been sacked with no clear idea of a successor so we drift for a few weeks.

This time bang, gone, then replaced in a few days.

Now get into the transfer market to freshen up the squad and maybe actually try coaching them now.

David Moyes’ prospects for success at Everton can be rated 7/10 based on the following considerations:

Strengths:

1. Familiarity with the Club: Moyes knows Everton well, including its culture and fan expectations, which gives him a head start.

2. Track Record: His prior tenure at Everton was largely successful, taking them from relegation battles to European qualification.

3. Motivation to Rebuild: Moyes has shown an ability to stabilize struggling teams, as evidenced by his recent success at West Ham.

Challenges:

1. Evolved Premier League: The league is more competitive than during his earlier time at Everton, with greater tactical demands and financial imbalances.

2. Squad Quality: The current Everton squad lacks the depth and consistency needed for higher ambitions, and January transfer options may be limited.

3. Immediate Pressure: With Everton near the relegation zone, Moyes must deliver results quickly, which adds significant stress.

Final Outlook:

If Moyes can adapt his methods to the modern game and get immediate buy-in from the squad, he could stabilize the team and guide them to safety. However, long-term success will depend on investments and strategic planning beyond this season.

I will say this compared to Dyche. Moyes can actually coach players and a team to do more than get ten men behind the ball and launch it. No he is not exciting yes he is pragmatic but the leap to a progressive manager could have sent us down. So whilst its not exciting I get the appointment where we are.
