2024/25 David Moyes

So he's admitted we're safe, Ndiaye is ready to start, and Alcaraz is still a few starts away from us needing to buy him. You're probably not going to get better for £15m.

Is there really any need to be playing Doucoure now? You're willingly playing a better player out of position if you start with him (Ndiaye, wide left, or leaving a better player on the bench in Alcaraz), and that helps nobody.

How can Alcaraz be fairly judged unless he starts at least several games in his most effective position?

The Doucoure thing has really got to come to an end now. I don't even know how I'll react if I find out they put an extended contract on the table for him.

We've gone back to not being able to win games again, and surprise surprise it's Doucoure at the heart of the field that's killing us.
If you wanted to play devils advocate (and nobody does) you could say he has been in the heart of the field whilst we have gone on a run of not losing many...

I think he has done a good job overall since coming in, but probably should have won more games if i'm honest, 1 win in 9 isn't good for anyone really, and i hold Moyes to the same standards as i did those that came before him, so i want better in that regard.

I think we have a really tough run of games now, and that does raise some concern to me, but i guess we will see how we are at the other end of it.

For me personally, i have huge concerns on just who and what kind of player he wants to bring in, in the summer.

For me, Moyes is a short term fix, and i'm fine with that, but i probably wouldn't want him here long term.

I do also have some worries TFG went all in on him a little bit too quickly after his initial run of results, and i don't really want him to hold all the power here.

Just wondering, considering we haven’t heard a thing from them, how have TFG ā€œgone all in on himā€? Apart from giving him the job prior to those good results, what have they then done?

The fact he was given a 2.5 year deal reflects that he isn’t the long term plan.

The structure that we have has completely changed, it has been reported in multiple outlets and via people like the bobble, that the power at the club has heavily shifted towards Moyes and he will be a driving force going forward.

They have moved away from the DoF model (Kinnear is not being brought in as that) and i fully expect Moyes to have the biggest input in terms of signing players, he is also already bringing in his own recruitment staff, one of which i believe (although could be wrong) is his son.

They are absolutely going all in on him in terms of trust, and i can understand why to a point, but i worry Moyes will be targeting a certain type of proven player that will be very costly to us long term.

But we shall see.

Didn’t really want Moyes but with the squad we have and with the injuries we’ve had to deal with, not sure where those extra wins should be coming from. He’s done well to win the number of games he has.

I’d like to win a couple more games at Goodison before we leave but other than that, I’m not concerned what happens for the rest of this season, it’s all about improving the squad ready for next season.

i think thats mad talk tbh for this season. You want better than what came before and hold to the same standards. In 13 games we've scored 18 goals under Moyes. Thats acceptable. In the 13 games previous under what came before it was 7 goals in 13 games. Thats pathetic.
He took over a team halfway through the season on its knees that could hardly get a shot away on goal and a point above the relegation zone.
13 games later we're 15 points above that same relegation zone.
But you want better lol.

Sorry guys, I’m with Big Nev on this one

ā€œShort-term, yes. Long-term, no. Because I still think if we want to sign the calibre of players we want to sign they’re going to come for someone who plays the style of football they like,ā€ Southall said about whether Moyes is the right man for the job.

Do you agree with the Club Legend?
Or are you just wrong?

It really isn't mad talk though, there are games in the last 9 games that we should have won, and i expect better than 1 in 9, this league is poor, i think we've played some teams we should of beat in that run, and to suggest its 'mad talk' to expect that, is silly for me.

It's also a false equivalency, you're correlating Sean Dyche to any competent manager, which he isn't, he was doing incredibly bad, Moyes has come in and done far better, but which is great, and should be applauded, but he should have also done slightly better at times.

1 win in 9 isn't good enough for anyone managing everton football club, but that does not dismiss the good work he has done.

I did want Moyes, but its also okay to say he has done plenty right but also could have done better too.

United, Wolves, and west ham i feel like we should have done better and could have won if we had set up better,

His insistence of playing doucoure as much as he does comes to our detriment also.
