What is it with Oldham and former Everton players? If the above is true they've gone from Hallam Hope to no F'in hope

Why did he really leave the club ?
When Red Kev was appointed DoF, he insisted the canteen replace the Cumberland sausages with Lincolnshire sausages. Rhinos contract included unlimited sausage butties but there was a loop hole about the type (ie none specified). Basically it was stitch up to get him out and they used the contract loophole, knowing full well he would not stand for it. Apparently he used to go in about it to Jimmy Martin that if they ever took away his Cumberland buttys he would be off.
Was similar with Dunc only the used his black pudding clause against him.

Because it seems we finally have a DoF capable of standing up to our sentimental daft bat of a chairman who firmly believes Evertonian credentials trump any actual ability.

Unsworth had two job titles.U23 coach and Academy director. He wasn't willing to concede either one of them so took the decision to "Further his career elsewhere" as a face saver over getting fired. (which is what happened)

Don't get me wrong, he did 'ok' for a period, but his opinion of himself far outweighed his ability. He was of course emboldened by his errrrr, 'special friendship' with our CEO so between her and Blue Bill he was bulletproof.

There was talk of a culture of bullying around Finch Farm, some say that's why some youth players left but who knows.

I wish him and Oldham the best of luck, but his coaching career peaked with the PL2 titles.

Sacked by March.

Thought the entire point of the under 23s was winning leagues at the expense of development of young players.

Sheer lack of players progressing under his charge is a testament to how poor a job he did here.

notable that once Thelwell came in - someone with a good knowledge of a youth system from wolves thst he absolutely ripped up our in place 'system' completely as his first priority.

It will be like the early 90s again when Oldham and Everton seemed to only do transfers with each other for a period.
Oldham had a team of snodin, neil Adam’s, Niel McDonald, Neil pointon and Graeme sharp.
We returned the favour with earl barrst, Paul gerrard and Mike Milligan.

Was speaking to one of the names off that list and he told me he was a top coach and will be Everton manager at some point. Good luck to him got opportunity to prove himself as a manager now think he will do ok his aim has got to be promotion back into the football league.
