Confirmed Signing Davy Klaassen

From this video, you can see his influence in matches. First-touch, passing, and two-footedness are superb, especially for a 22 year-old at the time. We have midfielders like Gueye, McCarthy and Schneiderlin and Barry and Besic who only really contribute defensively, or Barkley who only contributes offensively. Klaassen will do both.

You have to factor in the opposition strength.

You dont prove how better you are by getting the piss ripped out of you in the transfer market.

Spend a lot but spend wisely. That Lukaku cash wont stretch very much more now.

Called inflation in these days of crazy prices, you pay it or lose out, remember those not too distant days mate. Anyhow you or I or anyone else won't know if " We've had the piss ripped out of us " , as you have prematurely put it, until at least half way through the season.

To be fair, @davek would find something to complain about at a strip club that provided free lap dances.

I dont doubt he has the required technique and vision that would have been part and parcel of his club's programme. My doubt is that he has only played in Eredivisie and that they may not transfer well. It will be much faster and more physical than in Holland and that has an unhappy knack of destroying the time required for vision and distribution.

Take it from me: what you see Klaassen being able to do week in week out over there is something that he will not be able to do over here. Can he adapt? Maybe. But €30M looks like a massive gamble to find out.

We could have saved about 20 pages of nonsence if Dave had just said this in the first place!! :o :p

Looks a decent if unspectacular player. Not sure why anyone would consider him a threat to Barkley as they're totally different. Ross is more mobile and dynamic, capable of running at/going past players and generally works better further forward than Klaassen.

Although it's tempting to say he's some kind of Naismith/Cahill/Pienaar hybrid I think the closest comparison is someone much more like Wijnaldum across the park: fairly well-rounded CM with a decent knack for scoring goals. Similar fee, too, which seems large but is essentially the way the market has gone.

Can be a useful player for us but we shouldn't be expecting much more than that.
