@marcus picked him to be top scorer, but maybe 2 years too early. I can't find a single thing I've written denigrating DCL, but there may be some questionable gifs here or there. And people lost they damn heads when Wellbeck was rumored to join during last summer's transfer window.

He has proper coaching to bring the best out in his game though now. He has the movement and instinct to finish. Previously he would overthink or move away from the ideal scoring position. That has changed notably since Christmas and he, and Everton are reaping the rewards.

I'm not sold on the lad tbh. He's still only very young and is definitely putting in a shift for us regularly, but I can't shake the feeling that he's only starting because we literally have no other option. There's an almost tangible desire amongst our fans for him to be the next Kane and there's only one way that ludicrous level of expectation will end. I hope I'm wrong. For now he's playing well and earned his place, but let's stop getting ahead of ourselves
