FSW will see it as the European Carling Cup and put out a 2nd string side that will be knocked out early on. He doesnt want an extra 10 games in the schedual that's not Champs League especially when they're probably struggling to get top 4 in the league this season.

Apparently Liverpool are relying on the revenue a good run in the Europa league will bring in to cushion the blow of losses from the CL. They are relying on taking loads of fans to each match so the revenue comes in through ticket sales, and they reckon if they win the Europa League they'll get more than just getting through the next couple of CL rounds. Either way, I think they're going to have to take the Europa League seriously.

That'll back fire and will only stem a gushing wound.

Im sure that teams that qualify for the knockout stage in the Champs League get about £20mill then additional win bonuses if they carry on round after round.

You get about £1m each win in the Europa league.

The biggest concern for them is qualifying for Champs League next year. Not qualifying will hurt them so much it'll be hillarious (but they'll probably be bailed out by a rich arab). If the Europa League effects their Premier League position - FSW will drop it like a stone.

And there are some tough teams in the Europa league that are falling into it, not just Liverpool. I can see them seeing it as a burden and getting out early.
