Decent Looking Players Who Disappeared.

Asamoah Gyan - Amazing for Sunderland. Moved to Al Ain in UAE much to the consternation of Steve Bruce.

Stephen Ireland - was Man City player of the season around 2008. MIA ever since.

Sandro Ramirez - Everton, That.
Ireland was always very talented but lightweight. His poty season came after he spent the off season working out and putting on a lot of muscle in a short period of time. I seem to recall not long after he had a bit of a health scare and was never the same player. I was always suspicious of his sudden increase in strength and especially stamina, and wondered if a 'supplement' he had taken was responsible for both his form that season and subsequent health problems.

Hearing/reading this sentence with the obscene wages on offer at basically any top flight club nowadays, well, it makes me weep in despair.
Teaching can be a short career - so many give up in the first couple of years. Then you go and do something else, but having earned 25k a year for a short while, rather than 25k a week.

I shed no tears for any footballer . . They could do a paper round fir the next 40 years and still be millionaires.

For some reason Rasmus Elm was the one that I thought of. Think we were linked with him around 2008 to 2010. Swedish midfielder with a YouTube highlight reel featuring lots of long range goals.

He went on to play for AZ Alkmar and CSKA Moscow

I looked him up, he retired in 2019
