Confirmed Signing Dele Alli

40 Mill for Dele Alli is insane. I won't be surprised if half of that amount is based on winning trophies, CL qualification etc. If Lampard is successful to unlock potential he showed few years back, this deal will look like a master stroke.
We don't pay anything until at least August unless he's a complete flop in which case we could sell him and I imagine there'd just be something in place that a certain bit of the fee would go to Spurs.

It's a pretty smart deal.

I imagine if we end up paying anything more than £20m for the lad, it'll have been worth it for his performances.

I'm curious as for what the specific details for this deal are. Initial free transfer, rising to £10m after 20 matches, with potential of reaching £40. Strangest for me is the length of his contract, only 2,5 years. So if he reaches all these stipulations within this time, we're potentially ending up paying £40m to Spurs and losing him on a free over a 30 months contract. That for me provides a big risk.

But hey, maybe I'm seeing it wrong and there are also stipulations over how long he has to be here (sign a contract extension).

For now welcome Dele Alli, hopefully Lampard can bring the best back out of you.
But how is it a big risk if alli reaches all the stipulations?

I am curious too.

I think Dele Ali at this moment, is a massive risk for us. He hasn't really perform for years now. I think it's smart to give him about 19 games before we decide to trigger the £10m. And if (a) He is real bad. He only sits around with big wages for a season or two (unlike Iwobi, sitll under contract until 2023 or 2024?). (b) He is bang average, £10m and abt 1.5 years more (after 20 games) doesn't look too bad.

But if the scenario is he is so good that we end up paying £40m. On the bright side, it means we are doing well and he might be tempted to extend his contract with us, if not, we have good 2.5 years service from him.

I think is one of the smartest business we done in recent years for "Dele Ali type of player".

There is a risk there. Say we were to hypothetically go down this season. We would have a player there on over £100k a week that we probably wouldn’t be able to use because it would trigger payments if we played him. If we couldn’t find anyone to take his wages off our hands then we would essentially be in a Rodwell at Sunderland situation where we are just flushing wages down the toilet every week.
