No idea what kind of money he is on. But I'm thinking he will be a high earner? He will be to us what Rodwell was to Sunderland. We can't afford the £40m to play him so we'll end up with one of our highest earners on the bench unable to play.

Pretty sure if we do go down there would be interest in the loan market for him - at a total cost of just his 5 million wages for the season I could see clubs on the continent being interested and I reckon he could do well in Serie A or Ligue 1. As much as i'd like to see Lampard turn him around there's surely no way we'd take on the expense of his wages AND the potential transfer payments in the Championship.

I think even with his stock slipping the last couple of years his pedigree would attract plenty of clubs on the continent to take a punt, in the hope he could still turn it on in a less demanding league. I think there'd be enough competition that someone would cover his full wage, would normally expect a loan fee as well as per Kean, but that would probably be the point we'd have to compromise on.

I doubt we’ve signed Alli without the option of letting him go on the cheap/free if we were to be relegated. Madness in if we’re stuck paying a big wedge on relegation.
I would've thought we'd have some sort of relegation release clause in there but it is Everton we're talking about.
We dont need a relegation clause, he wont be playing for us in the Championship.

Before I retired I was HOD over a budget of €1.3 BN pa. We were constantly audited by the Irish C&AG, our own Internal Audit, and worst of all the EU Commission. If anything was found to have been incorrectly spent regardless of intent, we faced appearance before Government Committees, and hundreds of millions in EU fines.
I thought retirement would bring me peace and quiet from stress but watching this train crash is doing my head in. Is anybody being called to account for the waste of money?
