2021/22 Dele Alli

He was similar to Lineker: useless outside the box. But he was a very good player inside the box - and that is where he operated. Some of the greatest players of all time were poor outside the penalty area, Gerd Müller being the prime example.
Ruud van Nistelrooy scored one goal from outside the penalty area in his whole time at United, and you can count the total from his career on one hand.

If they bring a brilliant return of goals, who cares how they do it - horses for courses and all that.

Isn't that on your chum tapastits?

Regardless, I'm not sure you can call either myko or Patterson duds when they have hardly kicked a ball for us.

I hope Lampard gives them their head now - the usual suspects are done.

I would like to see Dele get more game time - that only problem is we don't really have the luxury to allow him or DCL to play themselves into fitness.
Neither of them should play another minute for a club looking to play tough and disciplined football to get themselves out of danger.

I still think our best option is to persist with the 4 3 3 and keep the full backs deeper - I don't see a place for Dele in that system ahead of VDB or Allan...the only reason I could see him instead of VDB is that he has a goal in him and we aren't exactly scoring for fun.

He'll be gone in the Summer.
I'm not sure how that would work tbh, cause Everton haven't paid anything for him but he is under contract.

But I don't think he will unless we go down. Lampard really rates him and there's a player in there definitely. If we stay up then he'll be a good option to have but the issue is right now with fitting him into the side.

Personally I'd start him in away games in a 4231. If that means VdB sitting on the bench in away games so be it. We need to have more of a shape in away matches.

You would think so from his comments when we signed him, but his actions suggest otherwise so far.
That he’s not been starting in what’s been a pretty dismal set of performances so far makes me wonder what he’s seeing in training.

My guess would be that Lampard hadn't realised how genuinely pathetic our midfield is at the time, and had originally believed we could play 2 with him in front only to find that we need 3 in there to have any chance of competing.

Additionally, he has probably been a bit puzzled himself to the Jekyll & Hyde performances. The 3 home games (prior to Borehamwood, which he was ineligible for), we have looked good, only to go and completely transform into the wretched, hopeless team that has looked so weak in the 3 away games. My belief is that he would like to have given him more time, but slowly introduce him to a side playing with more confidence to help him settle, but instead, he's been forced to bring him on early twice in those away games due to an injury and a capitulation. Not a lot can be done about either scenario to be fair.

I'd like to see him start pushing for a starting place soon though, I think he's going to be an entirely different prospect when the team is set up with him in it.

Strange you argued for Coleman with regards to his city performance, Dele came on and was extermely disciplined that game too

I don’t think he will but would be interested to see how that works. If we aren’t paying anything until he’s played 20 games, could we just sell him for £15 million in the summer?

We could yes, that would represent excellent business.
