2021/22 Dele Alli

He's getting alot of hate. Can we acknowledge the good things he did during the game?
A couple of decent touches and turns in the pocket behind Richarlison as the game wore on. He got little support as he tried to lay off passes. Townsend and Allan looked very fatigued in the last quarter which certainly did not help in.

People should reserve judgement until he has had at least 3-4 games to bed in.

Was a great run and chest through the middle at one point. Defender did well to dispossess but those runs from deep we’ve never had so will be useful.

He had a shooting opportunity and back heeled it at the defender for no reason.

Yeah we are being unfair on deli. But years of signing sorts of player who thinks they are good and flatter to decieve at top clubs and then hang around everton like a bad smell has destroyed our patience.

Not saying he will be at all. He kinda fits the profile though.

Just all very negative. It's hard.

The Ali that played last night

He had a stinker last night
Yes it can all be mitigated by new club, rustiness, settling in, coming off bench into disrupted team
But I can't help but feel like he's lacking that determination to pull the team up with him
I hope to be proven wrong, but like all these other everton players, when the going gets tough he doesn't get going

Sorry I just don't understand this. Besides the obvious mistake for the goal, which lets be honest was coming anyway, what did he do that makes you think of his appearance as a "stinker"?

I'm not being funny, i'm genuinely curious, cause I thought he did fine given the circumstances..

Definitely disagree with the "let's be honest was coming anyway" excuse for him getting dispossessed outside his own box and not bothering to try get the ball back. How was that inevitable? It's your debut, at least put in the effort?

The rest of his performance was either anonymous not in position to link up play, or carrying the ball directly into their players.

I'm not writing him off, but given the circumstances (his first appearance) - at the very least I was hoping for him to apply himself and hopefully lift the overall performance, even with the piecemeal team on the field.

My issue with Sutton and people now banging on about him not trying to get the ball back is fine, he should have, but did you see the rest of the defenders for that goal? Two of them stood off Joelinton, then 4 of them stood off ASM and then Townsend loses Fraser.

As for Dele, if he's going to play, it needs to be as the sole player behind the striker. It can't be in a role that requires him to run with the ball, that isn't his game.

Not defending Alli as I was against his signing, but I really don't think that second goal is on him. I don't see what else he was supposed to do with that pass from Gomes. It was a dangerous pass to play from Gomes. Not passing to players with a man on is something you're coached as a 9 year-old.
