2021/22 Dele Alli

Former Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Cardiff City manager Warnock believes Everton are ‘not good enough’ for Alli and claims the 37-times England international would suit Premier League leaders Man City and Liverpool. Warnock, who announced the end of his 42-year managerial career on Saturday, told Sky Sports: “When I look at Dele, I feel sorry for him. Everton aren’t a team good enough or strong enough to give him the ball in the right areas.

You play him off [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin. Play him off the striker and give him the ball in them areas. But they don’t do that. They are under the cosh all the time. They pass it in silly areas and don’t play them balls into feet and get runners, which he is good at.

“I think if you put him into Liverpool or Man City’s team, then you would get a hell of a player out of him.”

Warnock tried to sign Alli from MK Dons when he was manager of Palace in the summer of 2014. The former prodigy remained with the League One side and joined Spurs the following January before being loaned back for the remainder of the 2014-15 season.

There’s a good reason he’s had to finally retire from football, what on earth is that absolute drivel. Couldn’t get a game for Spurs but he’d walk in Liverpool and City’s teams?? Ahead of who?

I don’t know what the payment triggers are in the deal with Spurs, but I wondered if him not playing was in some way linked to that?

That's been my thoughts, but... Is there still a player who wants to play football. Not sure, it's not like he's been out injured with two broken legs is it.

The whole deal seemed odd from the outset. It’s clear that there are payment clauses we dont understand. It’s also clear we have no intention of paying £40m.

How can a player of his quality lose confidence so much?

A bloke I play football with who is a Spurs season ticket holder was saying he had multiple problems with lifestyle choices and mental health issues. He knows people who work for Spurs and is a pretty reliable guy
This was way before we bought him.
Maybe he just isn't that interested in football anymore?

That figures. You wonder what due diligence we have done before signing him?

This isn’t a personal comment, and your specific information might be as reliable as it gets, but I love the way that when people say “I know someone who is an [insert other club here] season ticket holder” people act like it has some weight.

If you came on and said “I know someone who’s an Everton season ticket holder and they say…” you’d be laughed at.

How many season ticket holders have got on here? None of us have a clue what’s going on lol

I know someone who’s an Everton season ticket holder and they say that Rafael Bentitez wasnt given a chance by the Everton fans.

Perhaps poor wording from Warnock, but I tihnk what he is getting at, in a team that has the ball and can look to get him into positions where he is strong, he would excel. In THIS team, he wouldn't get that whatsoever. His work rate is always going to be an issue which is the main reason why he'd never get near City or Liverpool becuase both of those teams, while playing in different ways, require a work rate to hunt that ball back. On the flip side, the same could be said for most players, you could stick DCL in either of those teams and he'll score goals purely beause of how many chances they both create. You could stick Michael Keane in both and hell suddenly look betteer because he's having to do a lot less in games.

While we are shocking, it's hard to see a place in this team for him, nevermind one of Liverpools or City's.

Sticking to my guns on Alli, has an abundance of talent, i think most see that. Appears to have very little drive to reach his potential and that is the worrying thing. Next season will be the teller, well the start of next season. Assuming we stay up (which is a big assumption). Lampard will look to play better/more of the ball and I tihnk Alli will feature. If he does not feature even with the attitude change of style, then hes done in football completely. He's 25/26 as of yesterday? It isn't completely over for him, but if he doesnt look motivated to turn his career around and show his ability in the next year or two you cant see that 'desire' ever returning, can you?

I know it's normally nonsense but this bloke isn't one to talk rubbish. Definitely something amiss with Dele unfortunately in any case.

The way his career has nose dived there is defo something amiss.

But you do realise that just cos somebody has a season ticket, it doesnt make them an expert nor does it mean they have insight into a football club or its players.
