2022/23 Dele Alli

While we thought the deal we did with spurs was an absolute steal....there was clearly a reason why they'd let him go in one of the most convoluted deals in league history.

Levy did us. Not the first or last club he's done that to

Ultimately he didn't. He covered himself against the possibility of Alli finding his form by ensuring Spurs were compensated by all the add ons. He let him go for nothing expecting at least some of those adds on to be met.

If money is his motivator then he will have to focus next season to get a big contract in 2024 somewhere. His income will grind to a halt otherwise.

Don't see it like that. Personally feel that he wanted him off the books, no one was going to pay £30-40mill for him, we were the only ones really interested, had no money, so struck a deal where if he finds form and games he gets paid...if he doesn't that a big player off the wage books.

It's a win win for him.

If the lad wanted to be a footballer again, he'd have turned up for training and not be a lost cause to be punted to Turkey...where again he's failed.

He'll go the way of Ravel Morrison.

To be fair, he didnt really. We structure a deal so we paid nothing for him. We will have most of his wages covered next 2 years with loans.

The club clearly only ever wanted to loan him.

He did. "We" structured a deal that they accepted because we couldn't afford to pay a fee for him. Levy loses a high earner who he knew was MIA and gets a potential to make £40mill off it. Win win.

We get a busted player who's worthless hemorrhaging wages that we have to force out on loan.

Sure Levy won that. What we gained is more money out of the club.

Ravel keeps on playing, often in strange places and at low levels. I think Dele might just walk away at the end of his contract with us. Turkey is probably the final straw for him.

Yeah cos some managers think they'll get a tune out of him and I'm sure he'll be on low wages.

I agree he'll possibly knock it on the head. Or float around club to club on knock down wages.

You'd wonder how long his agent will keep him on the books if his fees start drying up

I'm wondering what kind of noble statements he's going to make when he returns. I hope he's got shot of those old jeans.
Having said that, he should be given a go.

Walk a mile in his shoes. Difficult upbringing, unequipped to deal with fame. Still achieved more in life then anyone in this forum

See, I agree with this and at the same time don’t think he gets another shot with us. I’d say, your conduct shows that you don’t want this anymore so we’re not going to put you in a position to fail.

We are paying a large part of his wages in Turkey and will end up doing so next season wherever he ends up. Spurs transferred the liability to us.
