It's the type of player we urgently would need in the midfield. I hoped it would work for him to find back the shape of his first few Spurs seasons. But the same as with Gomes, cannot pay players that can't even play half of the matches 100k+ a week.

The best ability is availability, and this lad is unwilling/ unable to play. He's not available. We pay him £100k per week and he doesn't want to play.

We simply cannot pay another penny to him just on the basis of HOPING he might decide to want to play again. All the evidence suggests he is finished.

A truly awful signing, up there with Everton's worst which is really saying something.

The management team at the time presumably thought a change of scenery and a fresh start would have him right as rain. That lack of due diligence is an embarrassment.

He leaves at the end of the season, no question.

If he gets picked up by someone else in the Prem and does well for them, that really is the final p'ss take from the man.
