Confirmed Signing Demarai Gray

Townsend is a year deal it's a low risk move by the club I personally think it's a very shrewd move by Everton for once
I tend to agree. Actually I think Begovic on his own is fine and Townsend on his own is fine, I’m lest optimistic about Gray because it seems a plethora of managers haven’t fancied him.

I think it is the combination of Benitez, Begovic, Townsend and Gray in such short order that are troubling most of us. That and all the deadwood still being here, plus no real links to players of quality other than perhaps Dumfries.

Shopping in pound land now until we move to New stadium

Not really but its not suprising we have to cut back this summer when you see the wage bill is it mate!

Toshun: 90k a week
Iwobi: £70-80k a week
Benard: £100k+ a week
Delph: £70k+ a week
Siggurdsson: £90k+ a weel
Kean: £60k a week

Thats just players who barely contribute anything if at all to the side - we've only just go rid of Bolasie, Walcott and Besic who were on a combined 200k a week or so.

Most of the above will be out of contract or sold in the next 12 months thats when we'll realistically start spending again.

The owners are minted but until the Naming Rights for the new ground start getting paid + our books get cleaned up we were always in for a rocky 1-2 years of minimal expenditure.

Ideally if we can sell Kean, Benard and Kenny this window we'll probably spend some coin before the windows end.

Dumfries sounds in advanced talks and will cost us £20 million+ so not like we are completely skint just cant spend £100+ million this window.

I just don't understand what is shrewd about signing a bad player

It's a low risk dice roll, if we're packing risk into a single dimension.

It might turn out that Townsend happens to play well with these particular pieces. Brands takes him in on trial for a year. If it doesn't work out, we all walk away better for the experience. If it does work out, we sign him to a bigger deal. He's made better off, and we're made better off.

Whether or not the club is shy of funds, we should roll these dice. It's low stakes, medium risk, high upside.

Reminds me of the Moyes days these types of signings. Sometimes I wish I could go back, and it would mean most of you lot wouldn't be on here.

Were we? Beckford got ran out of town for not being good enough even though he exceeded expectations...well at least in my eyes he did.

Gray and Townsend have quite long CV's that say they are garbage.

We were super excited to just sign a striker iirc. I also don't think he was run out of town.
