I agree, if they're elite 25 year olds bring them in! The problem is that I doubt Dumfries is operating at an elite level otherwise he would have left that league by now.

Because buying players is always a gamble.

Buying players in their late teens, early twenties mitigates the risk. If it doesn't work out, then you can always sell the player on because he still has potential. Buy a twenty five-year-old and by the time you have worked out he isn't good enough his value has dropped massively.

No one bought Luis Suarez until he was 24.
It's always a gamble from that league but when it could pay off big time as the lad has great attributes.

I’m all for that, but doubt elite players will come here unless they’re on the way down or can’t play every game like James.

Dumfries is hardly old, he can join a club now, spend four seasons there and still leave while in his very prime.

Andre Gomes has had a disappointing season no doubt but to say he has no value is silly.
He has another four or five years where he can play to the best of his ability and a different manager, a different role, may see a different player.

Gomes injury was the main cause of that though. Kane is a similar age and has plenty of sell on value
