Derby enter administration

Rooney really has endeared himself to the county fans by distancing himself from Mel the Melt and staying in the job .
Let's face it , he and 3 generations of Rooney won't need the money so I'm guessing he's staying there to get some experience . His attitude and the way he has eeked out some half decent results won't look half bad on his C.V .
My wife's family are a bunch of Clough fanboys so I really hope Derby get this sorted out so we can smash them again in the near future .
Not looking good at all in that part of the country .

Handled it perfectly, almost as if he's been advised what to say...

He's onto a "can't lose" situation. Even if Derby go down, any club will look at Rooney and see the way he's endeared himself to the Derby fans, and their staff and will see that as a huge plus.

If Derby go down fighting, or even pull off the impossible and stay up, then he'll be in line for a Premier League job I reckon. The Chairman is one dodgy fella anyway. I didn't understand how Sheffield Wednesday got punished for the same thing (buying the stadium at a hyper-inflated cost) last season, but it took this long to punish Derby.

But overall, Rooney has played a blinder, the Derby fans regularly sing his name (in the games i've watched) and things like that don't go unnoticed.

Read a quote/story about how the chairman was ignoring Rooney’s calls so he had to borrow the club doctor’s one and pretend to be someone else just to get through. That’s shockingly poor management, especially after Rooney only finding out about the admin plan by seeing it on Sky last week

I mean, who's he pretending to me?

"Who's this Scouser, saying "Erm" alot? Is this Wayne?"

Mel Morris is a parasite though. Lowest of the Low.

One rule for the elite and another rule for the rest of us. The scab six threaten the fabric of the domestic game along with the very existence of half the clubs in the football pyramid and all we hear from the powers that be is pathetic bleating about how unfair it would be to punish the players and fans of those clubs for the mismanagement of their owners. They get a pathetic fine and a "telling off" from clowns who where wringing their hands in supplication at the same time. Derby County go into administration and the same powers that be can't wait to bend the club over and hammer them, just like they did to Leeds, Luton, Sheffield Wed, ect, ect. Its just one more reason to hate modern football, we all know it but every now and again you get a stark reminder of just how scummy and hypocritical the people who run the sport are.

How many days has it been since the leaked media regarding “top officials” not wanting “anymore Leicester City’s”.

You can paint it whatever way you want but the Premier League/The FA only care about 6 clubs and will bend over mercifully for them.

Still, Mel Morris had a £26m Bill from HMRC. That doesn’t happen over night. Sheer neglect.

Devils Advocate but there are clear rules around a club entering into Administration.

I'm not sure but I don't think that was the case with the Scab 6. I could be wrong. The fine was pathetic but I'd say the most important thing would have been to use that to stiffen the rules against future similar incidents so there are clear and know ramifications for clubs attempting similar in the future.

Whether that ultimately happens is debatable and the bleating about "the players and fans", for whom the clubs showed contempt, certainly isn't defensible.

There aren't any official rules for what happened with the scab six because it was unprecedented and unthinkable. What they did could've destroyed the sport domestically. They should've faced expulsion from the league, or automatic relegation or at least twenty plus points deductions. I'm fine with clubs getting getting punished with docked points for breaking the rules if the punishments are applied even handedly to everyone but it couldn't be clearer that if you're part of the clique then the rules don't apply to you.

After receiving a 12 point deduction Derby enter administration. Ok they broke the rules so were punished. But the 'big 6' threatened to destroy English football and get away without a blink of an eye. Ok a small smack on the wrist fine that doesn't even equate to one players wages. Absolute double standards and really shows the state of the game at the moment and the overwhelming bias towards a select group of teams.
Exactly right. Financial Fair Play has been a disaster and is designed to keep the top six clear of the rest. Every transfer window they are spending multi-millions of pounds while other clubs count the pennies. The football authorities show how tough they can be when lower league teams fall foul of FFP but the elite just seem to carry on spending. There needs to be a cap on transfer fee spending - per season and a cap on wages.

I'm no fan of the 'Big 6' but technically all they did was form a new competition, which was invitation only. Morally, I find that reprehensible, but I find UEFA and FIFA just as bad, who currently have a stranglehold on football they probably shouldn't.

As for Derby - well, they're not clean either. They have massively, massively overspent in the hope they'd get promoted and could use the TV money to cover their debts. Obviously, that hasn't worked out. I'm not sympathetic, because I know plenty of small, local businesses who are owed money and probably won't see a penny once administration is done.

It'd be sad if they went out of business, but the EFL needs better rules in place to stop this kind of thing from happening. Docking points might feel unfair, but it's also unfair that Derby spent what they didn't have and gained a material benefit by staying in the Championship, whilst teams like Wycombe and Rotheram spent within their means but went down.
