One, or both, of Pienaar/Osman need to be on the bench for this one. We will get overrun in the midfield if both play.

We know who the back 4 will be. McCarthy and Barry in midfield. Lukaku up top. Than Barkley, Miralles, and one of Pienaar/Osman/Delofeaou. I would not cry if Naismith comes on in the second half. He has a knack for scoring some garbage goals and seems to know how to get on the end of things.

I'd start with Naismith in for Pienaar. As limited as he is he puts a shift in and will stop us getting over-run in midfield..Pienaar has been giving the ball away far too much, keep him on the bench if needed. Too risky for Delofeau for me. Barkley will relish this, could be our most important player.
I'd go with: Howard, Baines, Jags, Distin, Coleman, Naismith, Barkley, Barry, McCarthy, Mirallas, Lukaku ...Subs, Robles, Hibbert, Osman, Pienaar, Jelavic

2:1 to us with goals from Mirallas and Naismith...late one for the goofy **** to have us twitching near the end

I'd be happy if the referee has a good game,so many times these games are won/lost on bad refereeing decisions usually against rather than for us.

If Lukaku has a quiet game you have to wonder where we'll get goals from.

We keep them goalless first half and we have a good chance - need to turn up with a totally positive belief that we can win over the whole 90 mins and just banish the negative mindset Moyes used to have prior to these games -I feel it is our turn for a win against what in my opinion is a very ordinary rs despite their scoring exploits against teams who come to analfield and lay down for them. I think Martinez will fire us up for this and if we can score first I would go for 2-0.

If we play anything like the last 2 games we'll get murdered.

Then there's the Ref, Gerrard diving and Satan all to be taken into account.

Nope history tells us that it's best to expect the worst, and then anything else is a bonus.

Agreed.

Which team realistically challenging for the CL would have a midfield with Henderson and Lucas in it? And the two CBs are poor.

Obviously they need watching. When Johnson and Enrique play they have good forward momentum and Sewer rat and Sturridge are bang in form. For me though (and leaving out Southampton), they are definitely the weakest team ahead of us in the table.

Interestingly (or not) 23/11/ 50 years ago is of course when Dr Who started, and the day after JFK's assassination. These are the results from all the English matches played on that day - we won 2-0 but the rs won 1-0. I'd like a Tardis to change some things but we are stuck with things as they are..... (for Blues of a nervous disposition don't look at the link to the tables after those results  )

Said long ago that it had infected the support and it has...gotta' get rid of that first, IMHO. It transmits down to the pitch, even I can sense it 5k miles away on the telly. Just need to get behind the club itself, like we did for ginger nuts' last game...that's the Goodison I know and love. Sh*t's gonna' happen but you have to embrace how we're trying to go forward...it's proper, passing Everton football.
