Did anyone travel to see Everton play at Benfica?

Not looking at a map at this moment but isn't Lisbon by the water?
It's on a river, with the sea nearby. There are some nice bits out near the coast (Belem (suburb ) and Cascais (beach resort) in the post above are both on the water). But it's not a wonderfully attractive waterfront near the centre (Liverpool's redevelopment is far better) although it looked like they were working on bits of it.

When I think of Lisbon, usually the first thing that comes to mind is Celtic's 1967 European Cup winning night.

Probably because they were the first British team to win it, and they all came from a 20 mile radius of Glasgow, always reminds me when I hear of that particular City.

I suppose (shakes head) the same can be said with Istanbul. :(

in respect to hearing the city name that is.

A most horrible experience no Evertonian should have to live thorugh again, think I'm over it now, especially as they've had such a poor season.

Still rankles a touch though. :@

Have you visited St. George's Castle?

What about the Nations Park?
St. George's Castle - yes, was OK and we'd been up some miradores (?) already so wasn't the first time we'd seen the views of the city and river, bits of it were closed. Didn't help that it was pouring with rain.
Nations Park - yes, we ate out there one night - was quite nice setting on the river but some of it was closed as well.
