Sometimes you haven't the time to look at a thread and decide to leave it until later to read.

Then you go back only to find it has disappeared, vanished, extinct, an ex-thread, as it were. This has occurred at least twice this week already.

Why does this happen instead of it just being locked if it has gotten out of hand?

NEA really but just wondering.

Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll find this thread for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad thread. Not like going down the everton forum' chasin' plotters and multis. This thread, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back the lurkers, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks chief. I'll find it for three, but I'll find it, and lock it, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this forum. $10,000 for me by myself. For that you get the opening post, the cat GIF's, the whole damn thing.

Even better is when you hit a "certain" age and make a post only to wake up the following morning to find no trace at all of it.

Did I really post it or was I dreaming? Has either alcohol or early Alzheimers hit me? Or are the mods messing with me?
But paranoia is also a symptom of Alzheimers

Thh I probably should post this in the oldies thread but not sure I trust myself to remember.

I think only one or two Alehouse ones, not sure about the Everton forum as a lot probably get merged into bigger threads of the same topic.

No thread is ever deleted, but we do have a forum where we move some threads to that is not visible unless you're a mod. Threads are usually sent there for one of two reasons.

1) The thread is not going well and has content in it that doesn't reflect well on the site, be that because it contains lots of squabbles or content that is pushing the boundaries considerably.

2) We're not sure about a thread, so put it there for the time being until we get feedback from the rest of the mod team (the Charleston thread had this yesterday for instance). Once the mods have chatted, it's either moved back to where it came or it remains in, what we call, the dump.

I think that pretty much covers it. If we're talking about the clique thread, then I suspect that was very much the former. Oh, and suffice to say, it doesn't happen very often.

Very fair and I reckon if I were in charge it would be the same beyond the fact I would have banned @Kurt after the socks thread...I digress.

Sadly, some funny/entertaining content gets lost in the muck. The Clique thread for me falls into that category. Was funny and silly...I missed where it might have fallen into the depths of nuke land. Came back after a bit of exploring the real world and it's gone. Like Keyser Söze

Oh for sure, the Clique thread had some fun stuff in it. This place is great and you can nearly always rely on there being some comedy gold in most threads, but sadly it descended into daftness by the end and I think Esk was ready to deploy the ban hammer.

Thankfully, as a signed up member of the 'morning shift', I often miss all of these late night shenanigans so the buck is farmed off to the other poor sods on the mod team

Yeah...sadly I suppose there is no other way without putting a massive burden on the mod group. Just stinks to be involved in a fun thread to miss out on the end game and be unable relive the fun stuff later when it descends into the depths of unacceptable.

I guess I'd just opine that locking vs moving to Mod Central would be a preferred option for everyone who is not on 24/7 on threads that had a point or were entertaining/fun.
