Also when I mentioned how my body is behaving that seems to indicate a worsening of things. I go and see him in just over a week so hopefully they can at least give me some kind of timescale. Oh darling, that’s not the update that I wanted to hear from you. That's rough. I am so sorry you are having to hear this news. How are you doing? Is there anything I/we can do to help you get through this difficult time? please know again that if you ever need to talk that Im here for you. You can always PM me if you don’t want to communicate in public, I want to be here for you.

May I ask if you also have the support of family or friends, in addition to your doctor’s and medical staff, to help you get through this difficult time?

Thank you both, your words are very comforting. I would like to think we are all one big family on here, even if we don't agree on everything. I think it was less of a surprise to me unfortunately as I have been feeling tired for a while. Hopefully my consultant can give me some better idea on the details.

Yes Sassy I do have family and friends who want to help out. For the minute I need my space though as I like to have some control and without meaning it some of them try to take that away from me. I'm still working at the minute but I may call it a day depending what the consultant says. I appreciate your kind offer it means a lot to me. I'm hoping I will be OK and still be my usual insightful self when talking about Everton and other subjects. I'll keep you all informed how I'm getting on good or bad.

I would like to think the same. A big family, a big Everton community that’s very caring and wants to look after one another.

I totally understand your need for space and your desire to still being in control of your life but it is good to know you have people near by, and far away, that care about you and are willing to help once you are ready. Stay strong mate! ?

We don't know each other and it's always difficult to know what to say, even to mates. It's worse not to say anything at all. So I just wanted to send you love and best wishes mate to you and your family and hope things improve for you. Best of luck mate

So sorry mate my dad was diagnosed with advanced and in his bones ,treatments are amazing now he kept going for decades don't be too down they can blow this away keep your head up

Thanks for that. I have the PET scans Tuesday - the magnetic resonance came back all clear so hoping for the best this week.

Not being one for wallowing on self pity, since recent tests show my liver to be in remarkable condition for someone who has dedicated their life, through thick and thin, to taking the temptation of alcohol away from others by drinking it all myself, I told my missus that until I get the all clear, I am drinking as much as I want, as often as I want.

She was cool with that.

Life is good!

Twelve and a half years ago I had a diagnosis of a particularly nasty aggressive throat cancer that had spread. I'm still here moaning about transfers,managers and the time taken on the stadium. It's a shock but surprising how quickly you'll get into the day to day of your treatment and it becomes the new normal.
