Its a weird question as to what is a distinctive voice as opposed to a singer you really like. I mean I'd instantly know someone like J Mascis for instance but he's a crap singer. Amazing guitarist but crap singer.

A Lady of a Certain Age is one of the best songs ever written.
Great point actually, and context matters. I mean Mark E Smith has got a distinctive voice in the annals of popular music, less so on a night out in Salford!
I'd put Bob Mould in the same class aswell, instantly recognisable but not the easiest on the ear.
