2019/20 Djibril Sidibe

Noticeable how when Gomes and Bernard came on, he was fine.

Yeah pretty much.

Lets face it he will never been the best positionally (I don't say defensively as his tackling and interceptions are generally good) but to leave a player who is positionally suspect anyway on his own against one of the best around whilst giving him zero help was tactically poor.

100% culpable on goals 2 and 3. Mental errors to allow the through ball and give his man that kind of space for a free header.

Was he fine because of adding Bernard and Gomes, or because Arsenal just flat ran out of steam?

The option to buy looks questionable and if we proceed, it's because we've determined that he's a better option than higher-priced options as a squad player. Which is not insane, given what we just witnessed in midfield.

Had a bad game today but like I said in the match thread he has a thankless task for us at the moment. He's fully expected to get far forward and provide width for the attacks but we lose the ball far too cheaply on multiple occasions and it leaves Sidibe badly exposed as he tries to bust a gut to get back. Don't think it helps that Iwobi seems to drift centrally as it ends up with the right side get overloaded by the opposition.

Tough game for him today but I still think he's worth the fee.

That's the problem with Iwobi in front of him. Not doing anything up top, doesn't track back to defend. He was only looking decent as a number 10 over Siggurdson.

Walcott tracks back. Bernard front at least produces in front and is better on the ball.

Not doubting Sidibe had a poor first half, but 2nd he was fine.

Hope this puts to bed the idea of him being our starting RB going forward. Looks a lot happier and better in a 3-5-2 as a wingback, absolutely lost as a right back.

It is a strange one with Sid.

Probably responsible for two goals but wsorked very hard and still decent in the opposition's half.

Perhaps the damning verdict though is that an elderly Baines looked a lot more solid and psitionally aware as a full back.

Kenny would have had a similar game today. Anyone would have. A player can not be left to defend one side of the pitch on his own.

He can't but at the same time, he's not great on the ball and Auba's 1st goal could have been avoided had he been more alert, should have been a few yards infield to stop the ball in behind.

Or the fact that Baines did a Baines and allows a winger to cross. Has done all his career. Pepe didn't even run at the 35 year old all game. Yet just pinged in a simple cross for an assist.

Aubameyang is the league's top goalscorer. More than Mane, Salah, Aguero...you stop the service, you stop him scoring.

It should at least give answers to those who question what Walcott does. If Walcott is on the pitch they don't commit as many players forward down that side, like when Bernard came on.
