2019/20 Djibril Sidibe

Some say he is a bit vulnerable defending but superb going forward.

Them lot over the park have both full backs with the same attributes.

I'd sign him tomorow me...quality player.

There's being vulnerable and there's the pathetic attempts he sometimes makes to defend. All the more frustrating because it can be fixed with hard work on the training ground.

He is far from what I'd call a quality player but he has the potential to become better than what he is. For far too long players at our club haven't improved. Sidibe is a classic example of someone we should be looking to develop because he clearly has something about him.

28 in July, not sure hes someone to 'develop' now...

Good at right midfield or wing back...

Id take up the option if he's seen as a squad player rotating in when we go 3 at the back.

Definitely dont fancy seeing him at full back.

I'm blocked too. Pretty certain I've had no interactions with him.

He's a liability as a defender. And because he's a defender that's a problem. I've never seen a defender who switches off as much as he does. I would not sign him

...which is fine, because that lot over the park have pace in central defence. When our full backs go missing, we are dreadfully exposed.

Regardless, Sidebe has looked very decent in the last month or so after an ordinary start. The crosses he’s provided have been top drawer.

In respect of making the deal permanent, I just wonder about the lads character. Some players impress when they need to impress (I mentioned this when Mirallas hit form and got a new contract). Once they get a new deal, their form dips. I don’t know if Sidebe falls into this category, but I hope Brands is monitoring the man as much as the platpyer.

Well I know for a fact, when watching him at Monaco, that when their title winning team was sold off and he was denied a move he spent the next season in a sulk and played horridly (also why no one bought him in the Summer).

...I don’t know why, but that is my fear with Sidebe.

I personally would only opt for the purchase as a back up winger/defender if we're going to have a new starter at right-back. Whilst in today's market £12m is cheap is it not just a case of buying someone for the sake of it? Sure he can cross the ball but you need to do the fundamentals right and he never has for me.

I hope Kenny comes back as first choice and would prefer Sidibe over Coleman as back up. £12 million isn't over the odds really and if we get £5/6 million for Coleman and its only half of that and he's also 3 years younger. This means RB doesn't need looked at for a couple of years.
