12:25pm - 5Live start to report on statement - they go to Juliette Ferrington at Goodison who is reporting on the game. At 12:27 (skip to 27 minutes in broadcast), Juliette Ferrington states, "I understand her car was spat at and jostled, so fans were trying to physically move the car after she was trying to leave after that Brighton game, she was in the car her husband. There was some very sexualised and misogynistic language used towards her."

She makes absolutely no reference to DBB being "physically manhandled by a male" - despite this surely being the more serious of the events that occurred out of the two. Surely that would have been the major talking point instead the broadcast chats about the statement for a moment then going back to talking about football in the Championship.

12:49pm - Julitte Ferrington tweets what she has just said on the radio.

1:28pm - Joe Thomas / Liverpool Echo make report of DBB being put in headlock

2:45pm - Greg O'Keefe / David Ornstein / The Athletic ratify the story stating - "according to a club source who was asked not to be named for their safety."

And that's it. All from 'club sources' via effectively 3 journalists. Two of whom are well in with the clubs media team and David Prentice.

Something likely went down imo - "headlock" is too random to make up when they could have just gone along with something more believable like social media death threats.

Thats not to say the board haven't then used that as an easy excuse to avoid the match on Saturday as they probably did do.

Not everything is black or white - always two sides to every story.
Nothing 'went down'

They probably got a few verbals and have blown it sky high.

Any tiny bit of anything they 'have' would have been plastered EVERYWHERE by now.

There is nothing anywhere because nothing happened. That's it basically.

Something like verbal threats etc mightve happened, but no, i do not belive DBB was physically attacked in a stadium with thousands of people, yet not a single witness.
I wish she would make a statement to clearify, as that might at the very least reduce a bit of the hostility.
Exactly.

Im trying to imagine a scenario where a fan has ran up and grabbed her and had her in a headlock British Bulldog style, and its farcical that that couldve happened, especially with no witnesses.

But lets put it another way. Is there a possibility, at any time, that someone couldve perhaps asked to pose for a photo and been a little heavy handed, put their arm around her shoulder, maybe a little more tightly or aggressively than she was expecting and shes been shook by it and panicked, and the idea of going to a game in midst of a protest in which she has been singled out and named, and knowing that there are always a group of idiots who take things too far, she has recalled this and this decided against it?

For me, if anyone of them felt threatened to attend, they had every right not to turn up, and anyone who suggests otherwise is mad.

So whatever did or did not happen we know nothing got reported to Merseyside Police.

Hardly the actions of a club that are using Alan Myers to claim that health, safety and security are a top priority is it?

Strictly speaking no I don’t believe she was headlocked - but as someone on Twitter posted, she may have been inappropriately man handled, and underlying insecurities have led to an assessment of the mood of the fans and a decision to take the heat out of things by not attending (which won’t work)

Yes, I believe "something" happened.
The problem with this whole thing is something happening and the CEO getting put in a headlock are two different things aren’t they ? If the story was a boisterous fan in hospitality was responsible for an over-exuberant well intentioned but inappropriate hug , I could absolutely see that happening . Dismissing that it’s too wordy for a headline do you think it would be discussed on MOTD ?

Do I think something happened , very possibly. Do I think a board member was put in a headlock , definitely not .

In all honesty though. Take all the on field issues away and it’s been a crazy few years. Hardly believable.

. Ancelotti and James rock up
. I tunes number one
. Ex liverpool ‘legend’ given the managers job
. Record signing arrested on the eve of the season, never to be heard from again
. Pereira crazy sky sports interview
. Just stop oil intervention / boltcutters
. Usmanov
. Ffp
. Denise in a headlock

I mean. Seriously now. WTF. It’s not real life. I must be missing some other random pieces of craziness as well.
