jesus, I have been parlay to many such experiences, smoker's phlegm is the most disgusting thing I have ever beheld.
I don't smoke. I'm gonna set a bit of a nasty tone and say it's a disgusting habit and I can't stand it.
But everyone tries it to look cool.

It's horrible, even when they aren't smoking they constantly reek of smoke. I never have and never will because i just don't believe trying to look cool is worth all the pain and medical problems that it causes. It is a disgusting habit (no offense to anyone who does smoke; it is just my opinion).
