It would not surprise me if he was our main striker by the end of the season.
I think he is far better than many on here realise or admit.

If he improves as much this season as he did last there is a very big possibility of that. It's a big if though.

For me he needs to learn to time jumps aerialy and curve his runs better. IF he can do those 2 things he will be a handful, channelling some of the better parts of Marcus Bent/Andy Johnson's game with the ability in the air of (almost) Duncan Ferguson in the mid 90's.

Get him some shooting boots and would be our best striker. As much as I like Cenk and Ouuuuuuumar neither is likely to be our long term striker. However DCL might turn out to be exactly that.

It's nice to be optimistic but nothing indicated this will happen during all the game time he last season in my view.. Hope I'm wrong.

Last season he was a young player, playing out of position in a struggling team... very few players young or old enhanced their reputations.
DCL did score eight goals and also had some assists, which for a player of his age is respectable.
Like all players he can improve on his finishing but if played centrally I think he will get more opportunities to score.
He certainly has all the physical attributes necessary and would appear to have the right attitude or it is unlikely his career could have progressed as quickly as it has.

The kid is good. Was suddenly a first choice prem striker waaay before being ready or having any sort of steady integration, asked to thanklessly chase Allardyce long balls pumped towards the corner flag, and still managed to look basically decent at 20/21 years old.

He's a big bugger, good in the air, quick, actually quite a good passer/linkup player, and gets in okay scoring positions. Tools are there. Ze goals will come

Aaand looks like he might be second choice striker for this season too

I really want us to make a real go at managing the careers of DCL, with Kenny, Davies, Connolly, Lookman, Richarlison, Pickford = I had put Vlasic in this category, but whatever it is, I want to see the impact of a Director of Football on our young players. We did buy 3-4 good youngsters for the U23s last year too. I really hope we've got our s*&t together
