Call me old fashioned, but the Number 9 means something to me..

We've got such a fantastic history of number 9's.

Now in the last 5 years or so, some serious wasters have took up that famous number.

It's a disgrace Lewin has been given that number. Reminds me of when Kone got it.
If you genuinely think it's a disgrace go and have a cold shower.

Of all our strikers, he's earnt it. Personally I couldn't care less about a number, but I get the feeling it means something to DCL so it might boost his confidence.

Preferred it when teams were numbered properly - 1 to 11. That way, the number 9 shirt was worn by the player who deserved to wear it, not by some arbitrary choice made months in advance.
Of course, it would wreck shirt sales now, so we won't be going back there unfortunately.

Improved massively last season. Hopefully he’ll continue to progress in a stronger team. Still a young lad and whilst it’s obvious he needs to improve in certain areas of his game he’s nowhere near as bad as some make out. He was part of the team that did really well towards the end of last season - it was hardly like we were playing with 10 men during those games. He more than held his own.

Dixie Dean, Tommy Lawton, Dave Hickson, Joe Royle, Bob Latchford, Graeme Sharp, Duncan Ferguson, Dominic Calvert Lewin, Er what? pmsl. o_O lol

Cringe worthy giving him the number 9 shirt tbh. Has done nothing to earn it, well apart from 11 goals in 3 years. But he puts a lot of effort in bless him.

Anyway its only a shirt number so who really cares but if i was him i think i would have requested another because it is just asking for ridicule especially when he is already boasting about it and is probably going to spend most of this season as back up to a proper striker who can score goals.

Cottee was number 10 wasn’t he?
I wouldn't say TC was a flop . Am I in the minority ?

We have had some great number 9s . Ferguson might be my favourite in my lifetime but I really wish I had seen Hickson in his prime . Heard some great stories , some by the great man himself .
