I'm curious to see what a new manager can get out of him. He has the potential, 7 League assists is nothing to scoff at, but currently he just doesn't score or get in positions to score enough for a center forward nor create enough to be out wide. He is tall, quick, pretty strong and his touch and dribbling are decent if he is playing up top. It's just the goal scoring that he has to find

Ridiculous the amount of stick this kid is getting in the match thread following his first 10/15 minutes of football since April,

I'm not even going to try and defend him anymore as there's no point. I definitely seem to be in the minority on this one. I'll just say I hope he somehow manages to find his shooting boots this season and rams his detractors comments back down their throats.

The kid is good. Was suddenly a first choice prem striker waaay before being ready or having any sort of steady integration, asked to thanklessly chase Allardyce long balls pumped towards the corner flag, and still managed to look basically decent at 20/21 years old.

He's a big bugger, good in the air, quick, actually quite a good passer/linkup player, and gets in okay scoring positions. Tools are there. Ze goals will come

Other than the top 1 or 2% of players very few come into the Premier League at 19/20 years of age and totally excel. DCL has performed very well, scored some decent goals and played his part. He probably won't turn out to be in the top 5 strikers in the league but he has all the tools to be a very good striker if he continues to develop at the speed he has.

It seems Silva will be looking to play balls in behind opposition defences as he has said he wants to play 4-3-3. Players like Bernard, Gomes and Sigurdsson have the vision and weight of pass. If you play that system you need forwards with pace. So fully expect to see quite a bit of DCL who is lightningly quick. In addition we've got Walcott, Richarlison and Lookman so plenty of pace up front. But not sure about Tosun - he isn't blessed with pace so suspect he may not be with us in the long term.

I think if you give Tosun, DCL And Niasse the same minutes in the same position over a season. I don’t think there would be much difference, DCL was playing all over the shop at times and it was to hs own detriment.
I don’t think any are good enough to finish top 6 and we were spoiled with Lukaku.
Ugh, just imagin I what Lukaku could’ve done with this supporting cast. Come back Rom. I forgive you.

Don't get the hate around DCL.

Quicker than everyone thinks he is.

Stronger than everyone thinks he is.

He's just a little over zealous with finishing. O feel he's rushing or trying too hard. One who will improve with age and will have a very good career.
He was rated as ninth fastest player in the prem last year aged 20 so he is certainly quicker than most realise and will get quicker.
