Four of those goals came against Bouremouth in one game (the 6-2 victory), so in reality DCL's run of goals is much more impressive.
Eh ?Ancelotti will call time on this phoney...and a few others.
They'd have been delighted if Ferguson had got the job so they could excuse their lack of technique and competency.
We have a clinical manager here now and only those with nous and ability will get a game in the next few seasons.
Natural progression for him he's played at every other level....odds Halved on him making the England squad for next summers Euro’s.
A couple have quoted a few quotes where I have slated this lad, but I will gladly hold my hands up and say I was wrong, whatever Carlo has done or said to him long may it continue, he worked his arse off for the team today, never gave their defence a minutes rest
Those stats will look a whole lot more impressive now!In PL football alone DCL averages a goal every 296 minutes. So one every 3 and a bit games, which at his age isn't too bad at all. Big Dunc averaged 1 in 5 or so, for example.
The really positive thing for me though is the fact he is so clearly progressing. If you look at him season by season:
2016/17: 1 goal in 346 mins
2017/18: 4 goals in 1876 mins (469 mins per goal)
2018/19: 6 goals in 1776 mins (296 mins per goal)
2019/20: 6 goals in 1043 mins (174 mins per goal)
He's definitely trending in the right direction.
His average is better when you factor in league cup goals too I think as he's been a bit of a beast in that.
Anyway...I spent a long time not really rating him - but he is really showing good signs now and should be a good squad player for quite some time, pushing for a starting place.
Mad when you think Liverpool sold Solanke for £20m, who has 1 goal in around 1800 premier League minutes.....
Footy these days is driven by analytics. Be in the right place at the right time, make the right runs, etc. It is so much different from the 90’s where games were often won with flair and skill only. Dom is just a physical beast that needs to hone in on his finishing. He is made for today’s footyWhat a week for this young man.
Sometimes its incomprehensible how a player can be completely transformed given the right coaching.. it just shows that the lines between success and mediocrity are mainly in one's head.
