You can’t teach instinct.
Agree wholeheartedly.

He needs to sniff out opportunities, be ruthless and seize on mistakes.

Unfortunately I just see a very good, manufactured academy player who technically is superb and will no doubt have a good career.

Not that it's a bad thing but doubt he will ever be our Shearer or even a Lukaku on a consistent basis.

He will make a great strike partner and foil for a top centre forward.

No one is gonna be a Shearer mate. Why does someone have to be at that level to be good?

A natural finisher comes away with the match ball yesterday ....

I'm not sure people are suggesting he's going to be Kane or Aubameyang level, but he's nonetheless doing better than most people thought he would for us, which is good. I mean he overtook the best league tally Ferguson achieved in his entire career yesterday and has only been bettered by Yakubu, Saha, Lukaku and Richarlison/Sig in the past 25 years.

Indeed. He's got 14 in 30 games thus far. If he replicated that every season until he retires he'll have had a superb career (of course, replicating it won't be easy and he has to prove he's not just on a Jelavic style hot streak, but right now, he's doing well).

If a 37 year old Jermaine Defoe had been on the end of them chances yesterday we’d have won that game..... that’s not for one minute saying defoe is a better footballer but it’s the difference between having a striker and an instinctive goal scorer

Quite possibly, but he's not Defoe, or Shearer or Kane or any of those. He's just a player who seems to have improved considerably under Ancelotti, which is good. The absurdity of the transfer market means that buying in a player who can get 14 goals a season would probably cost upwards of £30 million, so the lad is doing alright. If we want to win the league, we will probably need better, but for where we are right now, would we want DCL slotting practically a goal a game or Kean firing blanks?

I think it’s OK to say that DCL has made huge improvements this season, that I don’t want to sell him and I’m delighted with his current goal tally....

BUT

Questions still persist over his ability to be a top-level finisher. He lacks composure and it’s not based just on today. He’s missed quite a few sitters recently that may otherwise have cost us and thankfully (aside from today) they haven’t.

For me, he’s shown enough to demonstrate he can be a useful and effective part of the squad, but he’s not a starter if we ever aspire to be regulars in the Europa League.
I agree with this, he needs to improve in front of goal. He's improved other facets of his game a lot this season so lets see if he can improve that too

12 prem goals in 20

Your job as a CF is to score goals, the job of a defender and goal keeper is to stop goals.. our 2 CFs scored goals but our defenders and goalkeeper didn’t stop 3.. it’s pretty basic really! I’m concussed
Yep the defending 'was' terrible 'before' DCL missed those sitters. I agree he scored and improved his tally but only DCL benefits unfortunately.
