2019/20 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

End of the day there is a reason the fan base is so split one DCL and not on Richarlison even though Richarlison has a goal less, stats can be inflated due to periods of form or rub.... I choose to use my eyes to decide.
At the same time I think they have both played the same number of games so lack of form applies to both of them, your eyes see Dominic’s fault, don’t they also see Richies? I see two players who have scored twenty five league goals between them, I think they can become a very good partnership upfront for Everton, and they will perform better with better players supporting them, they both have some learning to do, both have faults but they give me hope for Everton’s future.

People exerting so much energy in here debating the ability of one of the few players to have actually performed to a decent standard this year. And you might not think he's good enough for top four or top six, but I don't get the impression that the player himself thinks he's the finished article either.

But if all he is in the future is a squad player with energy, a bit of pace and aerial threat, it's a good option to have. He doesn't have to be clinical, as long as there's enough goals and enough creativity elsewhere in the squad.

However, it shouldn't need emphasising that, as things stand, he's the top scorer in this squad. At the moment, he's not the problem.

DCL has out performed the majority of the squad this season. He is good player, scored important goals and make life difficult for the team. More than happy for us to go out and sign a better player, but I've got no idea what kind of player would be available for us rather than one of the richer teams. I would be more than happy to get another player on DCLs level to share the burden, apply some squad competition and rotation.
I would love it if we could have sign the top tier strikers in the world but really we are still looking below that range:
Wout Weghorst - big galout Dutch player in Germany looks decent and would probably be in the category we could get, a better prospect would be Moussa Dembele at Lyon. Neither would be guarenteed to do better than DCL

The problem you have when a forward who doesn’t have much natural football talent is he will be judged on goals. Granted he’s had a few good months this season but when he doesn’t score, everyone questions him. He’s big and strong (although I never see him use this enough) and works hard but in a team lacking any sort of creative spark, it stands out. Also when you play two up front, you sacrifice a midfielder for it so there is more emphasis on the front two to creat more for themselves. Comparing his goal scoring record to richarlisons is not relevant to me as Richarlison consistently takes us up the pitch, takes out two men of the opposing team, is a constant threat and is very direct with his play. Granted he has the odd bad game but DCL offers nothing like Richarlison does outside the box.

Correct.....but unfortunately if we want to be the best we can be.......he is nowhere near the level we need....

Tbf before the season I thought that getting 10 goals would be a great achievement for him so I'm glad he's added goals. What annoys me most at the minute is that he just can't dribble the ball in tight spaces and I feel like that is why he doesn't turn more and try and take on a defender and instead just frustratingly passes it back to Coleman . When there isn't 40 yards of space for him the knock it into he looks like Bambi on ice and takes too long to do anything.

I personally don't think it's that cut and dry. He's still improving, working under a great coach and has inadequate service in most games. He's also got the make-up to do the leg-work for a more clinical striker playing next to him. He definitely has a future at the club - even if it's just a squad player/ impact sub role - it's just up to him and the management to decide what that looks like.

Hes the least of our problems lads. Hes got room for improvement but christ this midfield is absolutely turbo putrid mega gash.
