In my view, he has the most at stake this season. If he doesn't put in 15+ goals then I think it can be confirmed that he had a purple patch and he is a bottom 10 team striker.

But, if he kicks on, gets those 15+ goal and more importantly, lifts his efficiency around goal, then I would be comfortable about building a front-line around him.

Pre-lockdown I was firmly in the quality camp, but his post-lockdown performances (despite playing with a debacle midfield) were very concerning.

Over/Under 13.5 league goals this year? Think he’ll be lucky to get 10 again personally.
I think he'll average 10-12 goals a season if he continues as a regular starter and his motivation levels are high.

Talent-wise, there isn't really much more that the coaching staff could coax out of him. You've either got finesse to your game or you haven't.

To me, he's basically a Burnley player, but then they finished quite comfortably ahead of Everton last season, so maybe I shouldn't be turning my nose up at him.

Didn't say all, said most... To be fair I meant more harassing mistakes, taps ins etc.

League wise of the top of my head, the only good finishes i can think of are Brighton away and Newcastle at home, rest I can remember are scrappy, deflections, taps in, robbed goals, and some decent headers.

Again nothing wrong with how you score your goals, but if most of your goals aren't coming from direct good finishes anyway I don't think extra chances will guarantee you more goals.

There you go.

Getting really tired of reading people say he only scores tap ins, scuffs or keeper errors so I went through the goals and even attached the clips. Make up your own mind but I think I was fair when I rated them. People ignore his good work because of his misses - all strikers miss.

I'm the first to admit he was quite poor at times post-restart and he looked knackered but I also wasn't expecting a great deal from any player after 3 months on their arse.

Sterling was very wasteful until age 22.

As a result I don't think it's impossible that DCL will improve his finishing, but Sterling is more or less the exception that proves the rule.

Still very wasteful:

Sterling still very wasteful, just that he gets so many chances at city with the players around him. Im hoping Kean steps up which could then push DLC further on in his development.

When I posted that I thought City should be looking to upgrade on Sterling a few weeks ago, I was expecting a fair degree of ridicule and argument, so it's nice to see that the stats back up the idea that he's ridiculously wasteful in front of goal.

He's still a very, very high-level player in terms of his technical ability, but the direct running and committing players seems to be completely gone form his game now. He's basically turned into Thomas Muller, only without the big match performances.

Scored 33 goals in all comps last season why would they need to upgrade him?
