Lacking match fitness that's all. It will happen with 4 months out get a grip

Feeding off scraps.

That ball from Gordon was great, but according to Opta, it was an xG of 0.45. So a 45% chance of any player scoring from that.

In the grand scheme of the game, it was the second-best chance (Watkins had the best one) but in the grand scheme of it being a 'sitter' etc, it was actually a hard opportunity. He should have done better, obviously, but we need to be getting into the box and cutting it back for Dom, not just whipping it in from deep and hoping he can keep stuff down.

He should have buried that Toff and he'll know it as well. They're the goals he thrives off from 6 yards out

He's not at the races yet, but he will be. A real serious injury he had and he's still feeling his way about. The positive is he's getting through 90 minutes without breaking down.

He's always going to fluff the odd straightforward chance and we've known that since day 1. The trick is to create more than one straightforward chance per game.

100% mate.

Feeding off scraps isn't it. Apart from Richarlison spectacular goal against Norwich we didn't create a single thing. He had one good chance against Brighton (which was a great block close to the line) and that's been his lot.

Hes been out for 4 months with an injury which is potentially career threatening to a player like him, who's game is about pace and power. Its only to be expected that he will be tentative for a while.

That's what I was trying to get across to the posters who were saying that Benitez would be fine when he had DCL back. It will be a long road back to last seasons level for the lad, only time will tell if he completely shakes this off mentally and physically.

He should have done, or at the very least kept it down, but I don't think they're the stuff he thrives off either. I can't remember many goals he's scored where he's gone in on a cross with that much pace on it. It was a brilliant ball, but we need to be getting to the edge of the box 4-5 times a game and cutting it back. Not just hoping Gordon/Gray can whip in a brilliant ball.

Tbf Richarlison's goal wasn't even a chance, it was just individual brilliance

Should have been subbed by Dobbin after 60/70 mins, as he is not fully match AOK.
