Some guy on Toffeeweb called Tony Abrahams posted one of his contacts informed him. A bit later on in the thread somebody else posted "Tony's contacts are normally reliable" But who knows?

Recent experience says when something like this breaks on twitter it normally has legs. Lets hope not in this case. I mean, if it was only done today they normally leave it a couple of days to let the swelling go down before they do a scan. So calling it an ACL seems a bit premature at this stage.
It’s not “recent” experience. It’s been true forever. If there’s bad news rumoured about Everton, it’ll be true.

It’s an immutable law of nature.

If you are one injury away from this dire situation then the squad isn't fit for purpose and the DOF needs to fix it right now. Trying isn't good enough. This is about results.
He can't magic up money that isn't there.

If we'd spent on MGW, we'd have our versatile forward in... but we'd have little else to play with.

What if we'd have paid £25m for Broja? What do we do about those two midfielders we need to buy?

I'm not making excuses, this is just our situation. The plan has always been to get a forward in. In an ideal world, they should have had it done sooner. Even in this far from ideal world, they should have had it done sooner. But they haven't. And it's because we are trying to stretch every penny as far as it can go.

They might now have a very hard decision to make, and go and spend big on a forward. But as I've said, if they do, then we will be relying on getting others out before we are able to do any more business. So we'll have to accept that.

Thats all well and good mate - but since his quad injury he's had numerous flare ups and niggles to the same quad over the course of last season and it supposedly flared up again in pre season.

I think many of our fans are in the denial stage including the club by the looks of it.

Look at Gbamin to see what a bad quad injury can do to you. Nasty things they are - similiar to ruptured hamstrings you would rather a broken bone as an athlete.
But you've already decided its terminal, he's damaged goods and the manager is a fool for not having seen it 6 months ago and and not packing him off to some unsuspecting mugs (as if a medical wouldn't have shown the issue up).

I'm not disagreeing that he COULD turn out to have an injury problem, but you've already stitched him up in a body bag. He's had one bad injury. So did Gbamin, and VVD - with quite different outcomes.

Ffs calm down and stop trying to play the 'I told you so' merchant, the medical genius and the holier than thou clearly-more-savvy-than- Lampard (with 20:20 hindsight) manager.

@ForeverBlue92 Lampard has wanted another striker all window ffs

The club have been trying. They are, unsurprisingly, so far failing. And now this has happened.

Im not disputing that mate - Big Kev Thelwell is up against it with our FFP situation.

My issue is more the manager building the team around DCL as still being our no1 striker. Even if we bring another forward in it'll likely be a 2nd choice option or someone like Cornet who's not a natural CF but can play there like Richarlison did.

DCL at present time cant string more than 2-3 games together without a niggle or "precaution" keeping him oot.

At this stage he should be 2nd choice but due to our dire finances we can't afford a quality 1st choice therefore the tough decision should have been made by the manager to put him in the shop window or someone else be it Gordon or whoever to allow us to spend.

The owner is just looking at spreadsheets and numbers at the minute chief. If that bid lands and its high enough he's sold.
I agree with that, but if is the case there would be absolutely no reason for the club to be creating a smokescreen to discourage offers.

Everton cannot currently afford a player who is a guaranteed better striker than a fully fit DCL mate.

Because DCL is actually a very good player. I see your point, but we simply do not have the cash or the attraction to go and get someone better. Honestly, they aren't coming to Everton unless we pay wages that we can't afford - which is what has got us into this mess.

There's other ways you can do it, you can buy players who are versatile enough to play different roles, or you can go and get someone like Broja who could develop into being better than DCL. But those players cost money we don't have... or, which is also definitely the case, are just not quite available yet but in 3 weeks' time very well might be.

DCL is effectively worthless on the transfer market until he proves his fitness over a prolonged period. Top teams wanting a top striker will not be interest in a striker that is not fit. The good team just below the top teams can't afford to commit to massive wages and a long contract for a player that can't prove his fitness. No club will cough up a transfer fee for DCL. If he has a good season then next summer he may get bids but this year he will remain an Everton player imo

Gomes Gbamin Mina and others need to be sold as well. We need to find solutions whatever way we can. This is all about staying in the premier league now. Its embarrassing and pathetic but thats where we are. If we don't sign a goalscorer then we are going to get relegated.

Selling Gomes Gbamin Mina for 20m combined really doesnt help us, it leaves us with 20m to replace 3 players and try buy a Striker.
