2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Dominic Calvert-Lewin plays as soon as he's fit and with some decent service he'll bang in a few for us.

In theory it's nice to believe this init, when he's back fit he's gonna come in score loads of goals, keep us up and all that.

When in reality; he CANNOT for the life of him stay fit, I agree with the poster who's saying it will take him a good few games to get "match fit" and then when he is fit, what are you basing him scoring goals on? When he's been "fit" in bits over the last couple of years he's been awful for most of it.

As for getting chances, he'll get the same chances as gray and Simms have done when they played = next to f all.

I do agree when he's "fit" he's our best striker, of course he is, but that's 1) not a high standard at all and 2) seemingly a million miles away given his recent injuries.

We shouldnt be planning on surviving around him, think that's a fair assesment given how he's been out so much.

The difference he makes is gigantic, partly because of the lack of back up, buy the added intensity up front in the Arsenal game was there for all to see

It’s not as black and white as that tbh. He’d started the 4 previous games - which included diabolical home defeats to Brighton and Southampton and a complete no show at West Ham.

There is nothing certain about him coming back and making a huge difference.

Different manager, tactics and intensity. Let’s hope things would better suit him now

The only thing certain about his return, is he will be neatly trimmed courtesy of Braun and looking a million dollars in some couture catwalk drip. Gorgeous 😍
Maybe even a nice new handbag.

Those other games were with the tory clown in charge. He makes a massive difference

Absolutely hope so and we desperately need him back, but might not be the immediate transformation some expect.
Pretty much this. I actually think Dyche probably also knows this. So I'll be interested to see how he uses him. Lampard and Benitez would be lobbing him straight back in. Dyche I'm not so sure about.

Crappy situation all round. Frustrating for us, for DCL no doubt, and for the Clun management.

It's been said a million times before, but how on earth a top level club has been left with one recognised / able striker for so long is criminal. You've probably got to go back as far as when we had Valencia on loan to back up Lukaku for the last time we had an option.

Think Dyches attacking tactics with DCL in the team will be more akin to Carlos so there’s every chance he will be presented with the opportunities. How quick he’s back getting on the end of things time will tell but I am optimistic.

As hard as Gray has tried, it’s no worse playing a rusty Dom for an hour then swapping for Simms, rather than the Gray to Simms or Simms to Maupay routine we’ve followed lately.

Though I would propose instead of doing that thing where he jumps frustratingly far far too early to try and make it look the defender pushes him down, he just doesn’t bother jumping at all for a few matches. Will preserve those delicate hammies. Plus Kane has made a career out of backing into mid-air centre backs so they flip and land on their neck risking a career ending injury, and he still gets the free kicks.
