2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

It's silly to suggest that the lad enjoys being a spare part and not being involved in Premier League games during his prime years.

He's not deliberately making himself unavailable because he's lazy or can't be bothered. He clearly has problems and we as a club and a fanbase must support him through that.

But it was a dereliction of duty on behalf of the board not to buy a striker when we were rock bottom in January.

We were never going to be be able to rely on DCL playing every game given what he's going through.

Even if he came back next week, how many games to get himself up to speed? How many games before another injury?
Think that’s the thing, even if (and it’s a huge if) he comes back soon, it’ll be a couple of games at least to get him up to match speed. It’s too little too late, seasons been a write off for him…and us.

We needed him today really. Fulham at home. The one game we could really target for 3 points and those few chances we needed to go in first half went missing.

Presumably then, if he does come back, it's sheer luck; because there's no way the medical team would target that sort of timeframe.

Or they have no idea what his status really is. I suppose that would be consistent with bringing him back for Arsenal ( the game we were least likely to win).

I have the suspicion the medical team have utterly screwed it for us.
