Behind closed doors friendly for fitness alert klaxon!
It's what he probably needs. You only know if you are fit to play competitively if you can get through minutes in match situations. I wanted him to play for the 21s, but a friendly is the next best thing

You would all goes to plan and the progression is 60 or 70 mins in a friendly, 20 or 30 minutes at Palace, then start home to Newcastle.

Bunch of cynical remarks here. Yeah being injured for two fn years.on the back of a pl goal scoring form that was impressive while quite possibly keeping us from relegation at the final moment against crystal palace really merits all the crass English BS Have a heart if you can dig it out of the swamp of your hurting egos and realize, this guy can play once the health is really there, and it hasn't been there for two years!!! Imagine how he feels watching and listening to all of your [Poor language removed]! I may be a hopeless Everton fan in America, isolated, and alone in the northwest, but I care about this club and so DCL deserves a bit more respect from you salty twatbags
AGH for president.

What an entrance!

I'd just leave him out until Newcastle now.

No point risking him for an away game that we won't win regardless.

We need him back for as many games as he can play, regardless.

He provides a focal point for the team, which in turn means the team can keep it`s shape and structure.

Plus, it`ll hopefully be the end of the French John Spencer.

If he comes back I’ll be surprised if we get 7 minutes from him, time to swerve it, pure bad wage thief, disgrace.

I guess that's more or less the gamble here.
Dyche has left him out since the Arsenal game, his first one with us.
The idea is clearly to only play him again once he can be depended to play consistently for us - that would mean on the pitch from this weekend until the end of season.
If he can't fulfil that then I'm 100% certain Dyche will be pushing to sell him for parts, whether we're in premier league or the championship.

If he plays at Palace on Saturday, he's very unlikely to be able to do it again midweek.

I think we need to prioritise the home fixture.

The sooner we get points in the bag the better. Beating Palace would give us a significant boost and maybe even a little breathing space. Defeat there puts massive pressure on the Newcastle game and we know how we handle pressure. Schitt or bust with DCL at Palace for me....worth the gamble. Palace can get the deck chairs out now after their last two results, Newcastle need points for Top 4.
