2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Again, Dyche likes to pick his words carefully. Am more confident after hearing him say Dom wanted to see how it went, and that if 0-0 may not have took him off. Hopefully that’s code for he’ll be fine lads, save your spare undies til next weekend.
The reference to if it was 0-0 was Dyche giving the impression that he wasn't throwing up the white flag in this game to save DCL - but he was. And he was right.

There is no point whatsoever playing the last two games with Maupay up front...we all know this, not sure Dyche does for some reason, so if Dom isn't back it's a major problem
I'd rather play a centre half up front, go and cause some mayhem by throwing themselves around, have some fun. Maupey was jogging around when 'pressing' yesterday, not anticipating balls into the box and gambling a run. He half heartedly jumps for headers instead of getting into defender's space before the ball reaches them. He's poor in this setup and offers nothing.

Personally stick to Gray upfront, if Lewin was out
Or Simms, or indeed anyone who offers something. Maupay has yet to show me anything other than absolutely nothing.

Dom has a tight groin, I don’t really know what that means percentage wise of him starting the next one. He’s got to play some part though regardless, even if it means him playing through the pain barrier/getting injections or whatever.

Dyche knew exactly what he was doing when he took him off. Last 2 games were far more important than a City game you are already 2 - 0 down in. Took no chances.

Dom will be playing.
Yeah I'm inclined to think this is the case as well. And I'm hoping he brought on Maupay solely to add another defender and protect goal difference.

It's not like he could come out and say that he realized the game was over and wanted to manage DCL's minutes, so he had to say something like muscle tightness.

Anyway, this is my hope at least

id stick one them training body mannequins they use instead of Maupey

Yes. I'm hoping this is the case. Can't say I took him off to protect him.

There is no way that Maupay will ever be selected in a 451 again. Surely Dyche has seen enough already. Has to be Gray if DCL isn't fit. Not good enough of course and we'll likely get 1 more point if he's out for the rest of the season, most likely a fighting draw against Bournemouth, but it's 1 point more than we'd get if that French midget was selected.
