2022/23 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Alarm bells already ringing then.

He'll probably play the early games in August and then be injured until October/November. Hope I'm wrong but that's pretty much the set pattern since September 2021.

Hopefully in a month's time the club will have a credible alternative in place.

The main point is he shouldn't have to be rushed to start in August. Club are throwing him to the wolves.

Dyche didn't rush him in the period after his injury v Arsenal so I do think there's patience from the managerial team.

I just assumed he'd recovered from the season ending injury during June and he'd played a significant part in pre season training so news he's already being left out of pre season games to manage his fitness isn't great, especially with lack of forward signings so far.

The club can't just write off the start of the season, 7 points off Fulham, Wolves and Sheffield United and mid table safety is far more realistic than struggling to get even draws with lack of decent forwards.

Nah he hasn't done the bold. He said in that recent interview he was still a few weeks away from proper work didn't he.

Can't be starting against Fulham or Villa then if that's the case, 30-40 minute sub cameos and build him up to start v Wolves and Sheffield United and then re-assess for Transfer deadline day.

Club basically threw away games start of last season when he got injured the day before the Chelsea opener.

Regardless of how many mins he can do in those games should not impact our transfer window. We need 1-2 strikers even if he miraculously becomes injury-free till the day he retires.

3 seasons on the trot if we mess this up we deserve to go down.

Some of the jinking runs with resistance bands round his legs and backwards sprinting at the German camp didn’t look like someone who couldn’t even train fully yet. All looked pretty intense. Knowing his luck he probably paid 80 grand for a week there and picked up 7 new niggles. Pretty crazy if he’s nowhere near the squad for Fulham. I can’t even remember what his current injury is, fitness aside.

Just watch his interview lol the interviewer says "You could join in with bits"

That is not what you say to someone who is even full training.

Telling an injured player no doubt concerned about recurring injuries that "you could join in with bits" isnt only unprofessional its quite rude.

Is he injured again??
That's the default. The question you should be asking is: "Is he fit again?"

And to be fair, it really shouldn't matter if we were a properly run football club. Where are the alternative strikers we need?

Between keeping Kenwright on, signing 39-year-olds, and failing to finally take the burden off Calvert-Lewin, this club will richly deserve its fate when the time inevitably comes. If we go into the season without proper strikers, people are in Cloud-Cuckoo-Land if they think we should all "get behind" the lads and "keep the faith". The writing is on the wall. And it doesn't say "Lampard In".

Hopefully when he gets back from his German ju ju man, sorry Pioneering Nuero Training Specialist* he can string some games together - for both our benefits

(*Neurotraining is based around stimulating the brain and nervous system to unlock greater physical potential and endurance in the body)

Until that hopefully soon happy day we need a back up...or even a 1st choice and have DCL as the back up
