Terrible signing and waste of money, no pace , think he had a wonder season at Southampton....disappeared without trace after us. I remember coming up to watch Everton from down South, hadn't been for ages, for a game against a peak Mourinho Chelsea side and he was sent off in first 5 minutes for handbags/headbutts or something. Beattie also had man b00bsIn flashes thought JB was ok and bit unlucky? Not great though, always thought he’d come good but obviously never did. Can’t remember the fee but think it was a big one at the time!

I'm sure he missed a derby through that!!think he didn't fancy it!!!That was my son’s first game.
Went with my Dad so there was 3 generations of us watching Everton together and Everton were going for a Champions League place in 2004-05.
James Beattie head butts William Gallas(?) In the back of the head after 5 minutes and the whole day, occasion and match is ruined.
Plus ca change.
If there was Ever a absolute welcome to Everton result and that interaction- this was itThat was my son’s first game.

It does with us because Kenwright and DBB with there little "Transfer committee" sat there handing out massive contracts too players who realistically should have been on about a 1/3rd of what they were.A key difference between Calvert-Lewin and all the other bums being talked about here is that they didn't stick around for seven years.
It takes forever to get rid of players now.
United levels of short-sightedness.It does with us because Kenwright and DBB with there little "Transfer committee" sat there handing out massive contracts too players who realistically should have been on about a 1/3rd of what they were.
That’s right mate , headbutt in the back of the head he was soooo sh1te Moyes had done a lot of homework on him as well as one of his ‘big’ signings which was even more bafflingThat was my son’s first game.

Beattie and Baines were able to take absolute belting penalties.I can still remember 20 minutes into his debut and thinking he was about a stone overweight.
Turned out to be one of the worst signings ever. Never ever looked fit to me. And i cant remember who it was he head butted and got the red card against but it summed it all up. There are two signings i recall that were just absolute disasters. Beattie was one. And mike milligan. Ran the midfield for Royle in that good oldham side. Came to Everton and looked like he had two left feet.
