2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

And would probably manager 10 goals in a PL season if he played today.
Sure, but that's not my point. We've had loads of successful strikers but none of those records are ever spoken about because the premier league era is when football began according to the socials. So our top scorer in that time only has sixty something goals which artificially inflates DCL's standing in our pantheon.

Played well enough today but we played more to his strengths which is good for him. I dont rate him highly, never did, but we need him in some kind of form scoring wise to get out of trouble. Some poor misses but at least he is getting himself in positions. Threw himself about better than all season as well.

But the tweet was "top scorer for Everton in the PL" not "top scorer for Everton".

That's the key for me, he kept making runs and getting into scoring positions. Easy to hide as a striker - hide behind a defender, always be just a yard away etc - but he didn't do that today. Kept going, kept at it - needs to keep that level up in the coming games and get on a scoring run.

More touches in the opposition box than he has done all season did they say, who'd have thought if your forward concentrates on being in the box he's more likely to score.

He's been pretty gash admittedly this season but it's clear as day the tactics were a huge problem. Whatever, whether you like him or not, we need him scoring if Moyes doesn't fancy the others. Let's hope that goal is a monkey off his back and he can kick on, we need him.
