2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I mean, considering 2 of our 4 strikers have 0 this season, our current 2 starting wingers have 1 combined, and the player starting nearly every game at number 10 has 2, it’s clearly not been so easy to replace.

And this is along side people advocating we sign Broja again with his 8 goals in 72 PL appearances which would only be 2.44 goals in 22 games.

I still dont think thats a reason to persist with another one who hardly scores.
Isnt it just time to call it a day.

By that metric no one is ever irreplaceable as the last 2 years we've barely scored and barely assisted - full backs, CM's, wingers on 0 goals/assists for all of Dyche's tenure wasn't unheard of, unless they take every free kick/corner.

Don’t look up DCL’s record mate.

Above said, I agree with this though - maybe it's time to start over for both. He might come good/better under Moyes, and I genuinely think he will, but sometimes both player and club need a change.

Moyes is the only curveball in this now. He might resurrect something.
But a part of me just wants him to leave now because he wants to. If he was looking to leave then let him go.

Bet a pint on DCL scoring 10 or more a season for Moyes to be honest, but it's time to go really.

How would the fume levels be (in general, not aimed at you here) if Moyes resigns him for a year though? I'd say quite an interesting situation.
To be honest signing him for another year would be fine. I don't think it's going to happen, but it wouldn't be the worst idea for the club.

Offering another 3, 4 or 5 year contract on big money would be completely different and I wouldn't understand that. I imagine the player wants a long term deal and that doesn't make sense right now for the club.

Are we sure he wants to leave, or are we trying to lowball him? Literally no one can know for certain, we know he's not signed a contract and the rest/reasons behind it is guesswork.

Hopefully a new Everton chapter where we offer contracts with logical terms really. Stability-wise we did that with Moyes, we'll see how we do it for players.

No chance a player his age would sign a year contract. This is his last big contract. Think he’ll go abroad myself. Interested to see how he does anyways and wish him all the best.

I mean tbf im not privy to contract negotiations but when you say lowball him. He's scored something like 8 goals from open play in 4 years. Im not sure the club could actually lowball him as he's hardly gona say look what you're gona miss if i go.

Maybe, but if he's been on, let's say for the sake of the example, 70k/week and we come in and offer 50 for the next 2 years - why would he take it? Plus there was some alleged Newcastle interest too, and maybe his agents tried to spin his head (sadly without taking selfies at teams training grounds  ), that's the stuff I mean we don't know about. As JJ said before you - he's 28, he'd want a meaningful or at least same contract as he's likely not gonna get another long term one - chances are he'll go the normal route and have 1 last Prem contract before settling somewhere as a backup or going down a league.

Let him go. I like him as a person but he's not shown anything in the past few years to suggest he can get back to the Ancelotti days. Not worth the risk when we have Beto and Chermiti. Would rather take the alternative risk which is to let him go and sign someone else.
