The fact that modern man believes in a certain sense they somehow own the world and therefore deserve to have 24/7 access of every corner of it. Regardless of the wishes of the people inhabiting that place.

Even places like the jungles of papa New guinea somehow we feel are ours.

I can respect that viewpoint. Don't agree, I'm not one for nationalism or tight borders etc, but the world is and was built on these foundations. I don't think there's a right or wrong answer to it either, both have positives and flaws.

Fair nuff. I just have this horrifyingly real dream of the future where there is one global state everyone is a single shade and all the things that are great about life (our differences, which we shouldn't have to "tolerate" but celebrate) are gone by the wayside with bureaucratic fascism, utilitarianism and depending on our food supply the standard idea of soylent green. Of course as a kid my favorite books were Brave New World by Huxley and We by Yevgeny Zamyatin. So I may have warped my own brain with my constant reading on dystopias.

There's also the chance that by being global everyone will have their one identity and respect eachother's way in the world. Yours is the most likely of course lol

Brave New World is good book. Probably more accurate than George Orwells 1984.

That's inevitable I suspect. If you look at history, we started off operating in tribes, then villages, city states became nations, which have become entities such as the US and EU. These things haven't created a homogeneous society, but rather allowed people of different races, colours and creeds to live, love and trade together.

After all, we are one global species, yet we are all unique rather than the same, yet there is much that bonds us together and far much more than that which divides us.

To get a world made up of one people they all need to be on the same wavelength culturally and spiritually. Which explains Marx's beef with religion.

I think you're not accounting for relative time scale. Villages/tribes life span and the less than century old EU aren't really a comparable 1 for 1 likeness imo. You can also see how the increase in speed of travel along with information sharing systems like the internet have begun to create a global thought/culture.

Arizona is not a safe state for Trump (latest poll was Ipsos Trump 46% - Clinton 43%. Aug. 12 - 25 (362LV) and Trump has little ground game there.

So cannot understand his tactic to engage in a war of words with not one but both of its current senators in McCain and Flake.

Surely he'd be better to focus on attacking Clinton rather than members of his own party?

I honestly have this conspiracy theory in my head that Trump was a Clinton pawn that was paid off to divide and conquer from within.

Aye, have had a similar discussion with @mezzrow. Generally dislike conspiracy theories so will go for the "occam's razor" approach that Trump is just very thin skinned.

I can imagine his campaign advisors hoping that his phone has a mysterious error allowing no typing just before a weekend or holiday - mind you the Clinton staffers probably wish that had happened to Clinton's blackberry as well ;)

I generally employ this approach but it spectacularly backfired for the Dem primaries. Oh Debbie Debbie Debbie. The curtain was well and truly lifted.

We shall see. There were many candidates in the GOP primary race whom I believe would be as far ahead of Clinton as Trump is currently behind, and the main reason this is true is because of Donald Trump's inability to stop saying stupid things/act like a thin-skinned meathead. Note that he is doing much better since the latest batch of handlers took over.

If the race is about Trump, Clinton wins.

If the race is about Clinton, Trump is President.

Interesting times...

If the race is about actual policy Clinton wins.

We're living in an increasingly exponential world, so it's no real surprise that the pace of change is increasing. I wouldn't be at all surprised if eventually the concept of the nation state doesn't wither away.
