The leading way he talks is a big factor. I've met a few distasteful incompetent people in my time with responsible job titles and big paypackets. Often they get these jobs (and keep them) by virtue of how they're able to lead discussion, even if it's mostly pants that comes out their mouth. Fools enough people somehow.

regarding getting Exxon in and taking the oil, he's just being honest (unlike Bush/Blair).
