Donald Trump for President Thread

No conspiracy theory and he's not trying to throw the election. Just covering his backside if he loses. Similar to many of his business ventures - he just lends his name to them and then can blame others if they don't work out....
Agree, although do think that there are more incentives for some in his circle to make money if Trump loses than if he wins that may be colouring their advice.

For instance can't see Bannon wanting a comparatively low paid restrictive job in government whereas if Clinton gets in Breitbart will have a fired up and angry audience.

Oh agreed - I'm sure that Trump et al have thought about the future after November 8, because I don't think it will be a transition to the White House for him. I just don't think that Trump is intentionally "throwing" the election. Rather, he's probably ensuring that he stays as true to himself and his brand (as he perceives it) as he can through the next 4 weeks as a way to maximize future opportunities. The books. The movie. The speaking circuit. The TV shows. The news network.

The idea has legs as well, spent a while persuading a very liberal friend that Ted Cruz was eligible to run for president. It is a weird world where I felt I needed to defend Cruz!

Cruz is interesting, at least there is some debate on what constitutes a "natural born citizen" and he is known to be born Canadian with dual citizenship, later having renounced his Canadian citizenship. The mythology of the Obama is a Kenyan-Muslim-Terrorist is dumbfounding.

1) a non-establishment billionaire ? Whose dad was worth $300m

2) the array of allegations against Trump is pretty lengthy including , I think , two settled claims alleging rape one of whom was his wife. Some pretty serious allegations over the mishandling of cash by the Trump foundation . I mean there are a lot more as well.

Yeah, this and this

Sure this has been mentioned but not read all of the thread....Billy Bush gets fired cos America's tv companies expect much more of its tv presenters but the guy who basically admitted to sexual assault on a mass scale is allowed to continue running for president.

Just bonkers.

To be fair, on the sexual assault issue people generally fall into three camps, none of which change their view on him because of the "grab her in the [Poor language removed]" statement

1) Amazed and embarrassed that anyone would use such language
2) Don't actually believe the claim, like most of what Trump makes up
3) Are this guy:

Cruz terrifies me because I believe that he believes what he is saying.

Donald Trump is a populist demagogue. He says things that a large section of people want to hear so he gets cheered and loved. I don't think Donald Trump has ever believed in anything other than Donald Trump.

Cruz is different. Cruz is a True Believer. And that is terrifying.

Cruz is a true politician, a rent-seeker in religious clothing. I think his religious beliefs are probably sincere, or at least his vocabulary is spot on (we see what happens when talks about the round-orange-bouncyball sport), but he can't tell the dividing line between what he believes and what he says for campaign support, which should be scary to anyone.

Trump is just scum.

In a just world he'd be in prison. In the real world he's trumpeted by a bunch of bigoted, racist, idiots who look up to him because they aspire to be rich jerks who feel they can do anything they want because they have money.

What I don't get is why would anyone want a president who cares for no one other than himself. Why do even bigoted idiots think Trump cares one jot about them.

He's a sociopath, fancies his own daughter, flaunts the law and has no morals.

Trump even being in contention to become president of America is beyond crazy. Out of the whole country no one would have made a better candidate for the Republicans?

Clinton is literally one of the worst candidates for presidency in living memory, but even she deserves to beat him.
