I think we will, he'll be the new Barry.
Do you think he has the physicality to play this role successfully in the PL? United are desperate for a Barry type so think he would have broke through there if he had that in him - would be amazing if he does.

Looked like hed hit the weights a bit since joining united.

Lampard had Jorginho and Gilmour in the same DM role.

No, put bluntly. Will really struggle in our midfield with no pace or mobility around him. Could you imagine him in a midfield two with Gomes or Allan?

Could change our shape and go three in midfield but then we’ve got all those wingers in our squad so limited options.

Overall, the biggest issue for our midfield for a number of years has been the lack of mobility/ball winning and creativity. There’s no balance in there and don’t really see it being addressed by signing Alli and de Beek - hard to see how you could play either of them in the same team, even if you went with a three Beek, Alli and Gomes or Allan is all so slow we’ll continue to be easy to play against/through.

Breaking news

Donny van de Beek has joined Everton on loan from Manchester United for the remainder of the season.

“Now I can say I am an Everton player, I am really happy and can’t wait to help the team,” Van de Beek told evertontv.
“I think it is a great club… there are really good players here and I came because I want to help them go up the table.
“I hope to bring my football qualities, my passing, and, of course, scoring goals. It is a big part of my game to score and give assists and I will try to do that again. And it is not only offensive, you have to defend as a midfielder and can do that as well.
“I had a really positive meeting with the new coach. We have the same ideas about football and he had a lot of influence on my decision.
“I played against him when I was at Ajax, and he was at Chelsea [as manager], so he knows me as a player. He thinks I have qualities that can help the team.
“I can learn a lot from him because he was a little bit in the same position – a midfield player who scored a lot of goals.
“He can help me a lot, so I think I’m in a good spot.
“I want to improve with Everton. There are always things that can be better and I work hard every day to do that."
