I won't start him every game. Don't want to over burden him in a season where we're struggling. He'd be my 1st pick off the bench in games where he doesn't start. In a 3 man midfield it'll be either him or Gray and Gray gets the nudge.

I have my doubts on him but seeing a cameo of him against Newcastle, I can say he is a huge upgrade on Andre Gomes. But I hope he starts and be consistent for us. What we need is consistency and some winning streak, heck I'll take some draws just to pick up some points.

It seems absolutely ridiculous to say that about someone on loan from a club he's barely played for this season, and having less than half a game of football for us.

I agree though. He was the only player who seemed composed for us last night. He was busy, always looking for the ball and wanting to do something with it.

It's more a damning indictment of the rest of our player's than realistic.

What do you expect him to do? He had a maximum of 1 second on the ball before newcastle pressed.

He was pretty subpar for majority of last season as well - he will definitely sulk if he's not playing mind...

After spending half a billion, we pin our hope on a UTD loan to avoid relegation. Sad state of our club.

He's going to have to put in some big shifts for us. He's certainly an upgrade in the midfield. Downside is he is slow and not that physical. If he is the forward most player in a midfield 3, he'll thrive. If he plays deeper, his best skills are not utilized and he won't be much of a difference maker.

Because he's literally the only player in our squad capable of scoring a goal out of thin air.

Anyway Van de Beek has to start from now until the end of the season. The guy oozed class from the second he came on last night. Calm, but sharp and composed on the ball and doesn't seem to panic.
