How is the club name building in the YankLands?

Maybe this was more of a future commercial move than a player move? (Li Tie and Li Weingfeing)

Disagree. Donovan is actually a very decent footballer compared to the china boys. But i agree it will help our commercial opportunities in North America

i moved to the midwest from liverpool in august and if there are to be any marketing opportunities, it won't be here! When i talked about the USA world cup game, people looked at me as though i was talking chinese!

Were abouts in the mid-west mate? I worked in Arkansas, Missouri and Nebraska last summer doing footy coaching. Arkansas can't get enough of team USA (y)

Howard regularly gets all sorts of plaudits about being aceness personified. Whatever capitalisation can be had is well been and done. He was a Man U player before us, so those stories of break through first teamer are long gone.
Hopefully Donovan cuts the mustard for his ten weeks and gets 5 or 6 goals, one of which gets goal of the season and so is paraded around the world.

the only benefit i think we can get in on here grass root level just look at the latest recruits to g.o.t 6/7 americans in the last few days,or since donavan sighned. good stuff imho the more the merrier

It'll help but not big time.

I was actually hoping that ESPN would do a short piece on is debut but football just isn't mainstream enough here for that sort of promo. Not yet anyway.

I will add that Jerseys are on back order when I went to my Local (soccer) store I had to order from the Everton website. I do think that you will see more and more of these shirts in Stores. I am getting a jersey for my Nephew sand I will ask them when they wear it to school what reactions he will get.

Actually, Donovan dwarfs Howard in terms of attention and popularity. If he does well, particularly if Everton ended up buying him, there would definitely be commercial benefits. That should be tempered though with the knowledge that "soccer" is not a big sport in the U.S.

I forgot about this the one way to gauge how much of an impact he have would be the Ranking of Everton on FIFA Earth, it will show the what teams people are playing the most right now, Everton is 23 in the latest ranking.

If you recall, ESPN made a big deal about Tim Howard against Man U in the FA Cup last year. If Landon scores, there will be a nice piece on him, I bet.

I spent 10-years of my life writing about high school sports (including both versions of football) when I wrote about association football, I had a weekly notes column and always tried to mention Everton one way or another...
My experience in dealing with kids who played at this level is that they tended to have three or four different favorite teams...a team in Mexico, a Premier League team and a team in Europe...usually Real Madrid, Barcelona or one of the Milans......
So, I think if Everton has some success while Donovan plays for us, it could make a difference..
